EW YORK (AP) — The sisters of a woman who was fatally shot in Washington after trying to ram her car through a White House barrier say she was not a criminal and police should not have shot her.
"We're still very confused as a family why she's not still alive," Amy Carey-Jones said late Friday, speaking of her 34-year-old sister, Miriam Carey. "I really feel like it's not justified, not justified."
Another sister, retired New York City police officer Valarie Carey, said there was "no need for a gun to be used when there was no gunfire coming from the vehicle."
The sisters spoke outside Valarie Carey's home in Brooklyn Friday night after traveling to Washington to identify Miriam Carey's body.
Washington's Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement Friday that its Internal Affairs Division is investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting. The Secret Service, Capitol Police and FBI are assisting, the department said.
Secret Service agents and Capitol Police officers both fired shots during the encounter with Carey. Witnesses said Carey hit a Secret Service agent with her car at the White House. A Capitol Police officer was also injured. Both are expected to recover.

I keep seeing comments that her family said the shooting was justified because she was crazy. So I guess these sisters aren’t her family?

I would agree with you but there was not damage to the front of her car.
We had a cop killed by “unarmed” bank robbers a couple years ago. They ran him down with a truck and the idiots still said “They were just trying to get away”.
And suppose she was wired Palestinian style.
I understand that the family is outraged, I guess.
But how would the police know that this person was a woman and unarmed? In today’s world of car bombs who the heck knows what a person’s intent is.
I am saddened that this lady went coo-coo. And that she couldn’t find a daycare to take care of her child to protect him/her from her craziness. (Where was the family?) But truthfully, if I were charged with protection of the area...the outcome would have been the same.
I also read reports that said the cop injured himself and that she did not try to ram any gates. Considering it was a pretty young black woman with a small child, I will take what the authorities say with a grain of salt on this one.
A woman got lost and scared and was executed.
But the Secret Service spokesman was adamant that "the outer perimeter wall, and I stress this, the outer perimeter was NOT breached.
So success in protecting the outer perimeter but likely not in capturing the woman.
At least the terrorist now know to have a baby in the car to at least temporarily dumbfound the cops. Oh, and drive around a roundabout. That seemed to confuse the cops too.

Yes, it could have. And yet the closest it got to the White House was over a block away.
ALSO. . . if it was potentially bomb-laden, why was it NOT immobilized and kept off busy Constitution Avenue for **16** blocks.
And finally. . . why does footage show a cop WALKING up to the car, and shooting into the window.

I’m pretty sure I saw a video of her car somewhat up on a pillar of concrete. I think she backed up from it, then was boxed in from behind. I could be wrong but I think there is video.
On the other hand what those 2 sisters are saying is, “those white boys didn’t lay down and take their beatdown/runover like good white boys are suppose to do.

So might ANY car driving down the street. Do you want them emptying a magazine at you as you drive down Pennsylvania Ave?
These cops are the worst trained and least disciplined armed force in the USA.
If the Marines or Soldiers in Afghanistan or Iraq had acted this way they'd be brought up on murder charges.
They had her blocked in at the barriers and if they had just pulled a vehicle in behind her and shot out her tires she was going nowhere.
Is there some reason why they did not do this????
The only reason she was not shot at the first stop was simply that no cop was ready to shoot a BLACK (and worse yet..) WOMAN even though their own lives were in danger.
They did not want to be Treyvoned along with the charge of female civil rights violations.
How bad can it get? Political Correctness, the death of our nation.
