Day 4 of shutdown: Vets are going to need wire cutters to visit WWII memorial.
The fences/barricades were not wired shut when I was here on Tuesday.
Park rangers to open the memorial-non-essential.
Rangers.to tell people they can’t enter-essential.
The last great generation has more fight in them still than most of us. Us younger generations should be ashamed at ourselves.
A hand held wire-cutter would fix that.
This is why we need to get our facts right and aim our fire at the right target. Just like some fired at the park rangers when they were trying to find ways to look the other way and help the vets, now we have people blaming the fence company.
However, this could still turn out well. In fact, it could turn out **REALLY** well.
And LonePalm, I am really glad you were polite. It seems to have worked.
Since it's obvious the fence company doesn't like how they are being associated with this use of their product, are there Freepers (maybe LonePalm) who can credibly contact this company and ask them to consider issuing a public statement that they support free speech rights of veterans and object to how their product is being used?
“Optics” are important.
A statement like that could seriously undercut the narrative being advanced by the liberals on this issue.
The company officer I spoke with said that they were located in DC. They have to do business there.
The impression I got was that they did not want to get dragged into this as they would get hurt either way. I think the best thing is to let people know they were NOT involved in this even if their company name was on the Barrycades.

‘Scott Walker’ REFUSES FEDERAL ORDER to close state parks....
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has officially rebuffed a request from National Park Service to close several state park sites. In rejecting the order, Walker explained that the Badger State, not the feds, provides the majority of the parks’ funding so there is no need for a closure.
The feds ordered Wisconsin officials to close the northern unit of the Kettle Moraine, Devil’s Lake, and Interstate state parks and the state-owned portion of the Horicon Marsh, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.
The state Department of Natural Resources not only ignored the orders but also removed a barricade federal officials had put before a Mississippi boat launch.
The DNR officials said their counterparts at the National Park Service could not close the launch because the state had the authority to operate it under a 1961 agreement with the federal government.
GOOD FOR HIM!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s about time someone had the.... um,.... nerve to stand up to the dictator in chief and his minions.
What other federal programs do you want to see open during the shutdown?
Of course we’ll comply. It’s our friends, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles. They’re wearing uniforms, they’re in the know, they’re going to tell us it’ll be okay.
Then, we’re gone.
“My Grandfather is a WW2 vet - 89 - years old - and he is so pissed off right now you cant imagine. He can barely walk but he says he wants to go down there and knock down every last barry-cade and dare them to arrest him, and I know he isnt the only vet thinking that.”
My Dad was a WWII vet too. He passed away in 2006 but I am sure he would have felt exactly like your Grandfather.
Most WWII vets are now in their late 80’s or early to mid to late nineties. Ten years from now most of these vets will be gone. God bless the men and women who gave so much for this county.
I am a Vietnam combat vet, and most of us are in our mid 60’s to maybe mid 80’s so we are getting older ourselves. I would love to crash the Vietnam was memorial but I am 2000 miles away.
The people are forbidden from entering the library itself and seeing the portion of the Berlin Wall on display, or some of the ironwork from the World Trade Center. Our President, doing the job that terrorists and communist regimes failed to do.
The Vets will adapt, improvise, and overcome! FUB0!
Go, Hannity, Go! Time for us to show O’Reilly that we're not impressed with his righteous attitude and holier than thou stance...he is not helping this country and We the People with his attitude, his constant need to appear “fair and balanced.” It's time to “humble” O’Reilly.
I read somewhere on FR recently that Special Forces said they would arrest Barry for his treasonous acts..does anyone else remember what was said on this subject?
These courageous soldiers of wars past need YOU now. Your accompaniment, your protection is needed to show this socialist government WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN. See you Saturday in Washington...We the People support you and pray for you all...it's time to band together with like minded people. May God bless the REAL United States of America.
if the people who maintain the parks are laid off, then who wired them shut?
