Shutdown Theater: NPS Orders Closure of Park that Receives No Federal Funding

The National Park Service has ordered the closure of a Virginia park that sits on federal land, even though the government provides no resources for its maintenance or operation.

The Claude Moore Colonial Farm announced on Wednesday that NPS has ordered it to suspend operations until Congress agrees to a deal to fund the federal government.

According to Anna Eberly, managing director of the farm, NPS sent law enforcement agents to the park on Tuesday evening to remove staff and volunteers from the property.

“You do have to wonder about the wisdom of an organization that would use staff they don’t have the money to pay to evict visitors from a park site that operates without costing them any money,” she said.

Some speculated that the decision to close the memorial was part of a concerted effort by the administration to play up the consequences of the shutdown in an effort to convince congressional Republicans to agree to a funding bill without preconditions.

That tactic is known as the Washington Monument Strategy, in reference to efforts by Nixon administration officials to inflate the consequences of budget cuts at the time.

Seems Nixon really was a major termite to our Republic!

From reading so many threads on NPS barricading, etc. I’d say someone in the heirarchy of the NPS is overreacting, OR this is from the top of the Obama Admin. to push to the tipping point. IOW They want a fight.

If so, they will more than likely get one.

Not sure but I’m in the N E Ohio area, and saw the Metroparks posting on facebook to say they are open. They are funded by the county, not the feds.

One good thing that has come of this is public awareness. People from both sides of the political spectrum are asking how the government can keep us off land that belongs to American citizens.

Always wondered why a park has to be closed if some Ranger Rick cant be there. Its a natural feature...it would be there even if nobody visited it.

And once that hate gets going, Obama will rue the day he ever was elected. Unlucky for him, Americans are not as dumb as he wants them to be, and though they may be a little slow in realizing what is happening (thanks to the LameStreamMedia) they know, now, and a revolution is brewing.

That means then that OMB was ordered by none other than Obama, or somebody next to Obama who got his orders from Obama to close them down, and as I wrote yesterday, and I hope people will not trivialize what I say here the Democrat politicians no matter take their orders from the Democrat Party. This is a truth. Each one of those Dem politicians is like a soldier, and abides by the direction of the party right up to the President of the U.S.A.

There’s a phone call every morning with daily talking points to a key person within the party whom I believe from articles I’ve read in the past is Chuck Schumer who then has his daily conference call to pump up the Democrat troops with those talking points just like a football coach to his team.

As I wrote to another thread last night: “...all Democrat politicians are of loyalty to the party more so than to their constituency, or their country.

The Party is everything to a Democrat Politician. The Party is where they get their direction, and where they reap their rewards for their loyalty.”
