Republicans say the GOP-controlled House intends to pass legislation to reopen portions of the government, including national parks and processing of claims at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The House would also allow the government of Washington, D.C. to use its own taxpayer funds to provide services like garbage pickup, as well as keep D.C. employees on the job.

Wonder if Reid will go along with this. Imaging two weeks from now House passes bill allowing treasury to pay interest on bonds, and Reid tables the bill ... Hmmmm . who get’s blamed then ?
Oct 1 (Reuters) - U.S. House Republicans are set to pass three targeted funding bills on Tuesday to reopen programs for veterans and shuttered federal parks, and restore funds for the District of Columbia, Representative Peter King said.
King said following a Republican caucus meeting that the measures would provide some relief from the effects of the government shutdown that began after midnight.
The measures also encourage Democrats to join negotiations to fully end the shutdown and craft a broader fiscal deal that includes raising the debt limit, he said.
This could be a really good strategy. Open up everything piecemeal and make the dems veto each thing on an individual basis.
The RATS won’t go along. Back in ‘95, Bildo Klintoon took time out from Snapping Thong Pizza Delivery services to refuse to allow national parks to reopen under state control. They will do everything they can, just as they did with the meager sequester, to inflict the most pain.
Keep the EPA shutdown.
>> This is different than 95 because people can get their information from other than the MSM.
bump
This really is Gettysburg for this country. The winner of this fight will set precedent going forward for the next generation how Gov't is funded in this country. The RATs know this, and will fight to the death...
The IRS is open to processing payments but not refunds. Can they slip in a law to reverse that?
This is what Ted Cruz suggested...hopefully Boohoo Boehner will do just that.
It’s all the Republicans’ fault, for proposing such a bill before the MSM could record some sob stories, rather than in reaction to the stories. Therefore, I had to table the bill, so that the Republicans could have a chance to look mean and inflexible;-?
“They will do everything they can, just as they did with the meager sequester, to inflict the most pain.”
In Ohio if a school levy fails, the first things they cut are football, band, other athletics, other extra curricular, pretty much in that order and they keep them cut until the public squeals uncle and votes for higher taxes.
They totally should not allow DC to pick up trash.
Great until this sentence.
Because they have more balls than anyone else in DC! Always have and always will! Today we have a bunch of sissified ‘men’ and wack job feminists trying to decide how to pay the bills (they spent) of a broke country. SAD!
As another FReeper stated,
piecemeal fund all Article I, Section 8 functions of the government,
citing the clause that justifies each expenditure.
Yes, that’s the idea... Pass a bill to open this or that agency BUT NOT OBAMACARE.
