After Told He’s Racist, UW-M Student Rejects Further Diversity ‘Training’
The College Fix ^ | September 23, 2013 | Jennifer Kabbany

Posted on 09/29/2013 10:13:48 AM PDT by Hacksaw

Jason Morgan, a University of Wisconsin-Madison student earning his doctorate there, has told his supervisor he objects to the school’s mandated diversity training for teaching assistants (TAs) because leaders of the first session he attended essentially called him – and the whole class – racist.

What’s more, the next session – on how to support transgender students – is something Morgan said he cannot support, as it runs in direct contradiction to his religious beliefs.

The letter, sent by email Sept. 22, states all new TAs in the university’s history department are required to attend one orientation session, two training sessions, and two diversity sessions. Morgan, in his letter, called the first of the two diversity sessions, held Friday, “an avalanche of insinuations, outright accusations, and suffocating political indoctrination (or, as some of the worksheets revealingly put it, ‘re-education’) entirely unbecoming a university of our stature.”

Below Morgan’s letter has been reproduced in its entirety. Morgan, a College Fix contributor, also sent copies of the letter to various Wisconsin news outlets:

“Reeducations” is what they do in all Communist Utopias.

You placed a sarc tag after the statement, "Burn down the college." But this from the article suggests they are indeed bent on "burning down the college", figuratively speaking.

When a Virginia-based research firm came to campus a couple of years ago to present findings from their study of campus diversity, then-Diversity Officer Damon Williams sent a gaggle of shouting, sign-waving undergraduates to the meeting, disrupting the proceedings so badly that the meeting was cancelled.

Something about breaking eggs and "remaking America". It has been visibly afoot, of course, since the middle '60s.

Nothing will be done. The addressee of the letter already knows it all, but he like all his colleagues in the faculty and administration has been intimidated into silence.

"Diversity Training"

I think "re-education day camp" has a much better ring to it.

UW-Madison is THE most liberal college here. I’m not surprised this happened here. Good for him for bringing attention to it. But I guarantee that local newspapers and news channels he sent this to will not cover it. Hopefully he sent it to the 2 conservative radio stations we have here, b/c that’s the only way it’ll be heard.

Good lord! I skimmed through the article and kept thinking “thank goodness my grad school didn’t have this nonsense when I was there!”

I didn’t see it mentioned in the article who is in charge of these “diversity” sessions, but I’m going to guess it is some division of Student Affairs. I had a brief flirtation with pursuing a career in that element of university life, and headed in the other direction at Mach 2 as soon as I realized the nonsense involved.

As radical as certain professors can be at various universities, the folks who end up in Student Affairs type job are almost always far, far worse. These people are overwhelmingly doctrine-spouting, petty tyrants. There are exceptions, of course, but I’d argue they are in the extreme minority.

"Tell them you are offended and you have a civil right not to be offended like all the other victim groups."

It is illegal to present a hostile work environment based on ethnicity or religious belief, yet public institutions do it to Christians all the time.

if the class is mandatory for graduation, he should challenge test the class...

learn the propaganda and take the test but not sit there and be insulted by his inferiors

Oh, I know. But sometimes being true to self is better than living in a gilded cage. There are great livings to be made as carpenters and plumbers today, and they probably all laugh at those of us who put up with this BS.

“............all new TAs in the university’s history department are required to attend one orientation session, two training sessions, and two diversity sessions......”

That’s one of the ways they insure only their own like kind are incorporated into the system with them. Keeping it pure dumbshit Liberal is a priority. Can’t have anyone wandering off the Liberal Plantation, and perhaps teaching the truth ya know.

Agreed. Certainly well written. A pleasure to read. The fact that I agree with the author on all counts no doubt contributes to that pleasure.

Now THIS is an edgy, courageous student, not the phony, politically correct sell-outs who think they are avant-garde, while clinging to their clones at Leftist universities.

All of what he said is un undoubtedly true.

However, as Rush has said on many an occasion “Brevity is the soul of wit”.

The writer has a lot to learn.

Good grief, what "stature"? The place is a Democrat communist toilet. Suck it up, sport. You chose the place.

Not if he’s White, civil rights laws are only for non Whites, didn’t you get the memo? It was sent out by Holder’s
Injustice Dept. the day he became the AG.

My son was required to take a “diversity” class at college (Temple University in Philly). He looked over the course selection for fullfilling the “diversity” class requirement and opted for a “diversity” class on Native Americans, figuring it would probably be the easiest one to stomach among the choices offered.

His “professor” was black (naturally - - these mandatory “diversity” classes are designed to provide employment opportunities for people who majored in “African American Studies”) and one of the books REQUIRED for the class was a book written by that famous “Native American”, Ward Churchill.

I kid you not.
