The Revolutionary War was a rebellion against Britain, but it first required a battle between Tories and Patriots. Ted Cruz is fighting for the honor of leading the conservative movement. The main goal is to give the American people a voice, defeat the Democrat Party, and take over Congress and the White House, so we can shrink our federal government back to constitutional limits.
The battleground of the moment is ObamaCare. But the first adversary that must be defeated is the Republican establishment. Is it any wonder that the Republican leadership is working to make sure the defunding effort fails?
Ted Cruz is pinning his ambitions to the big reality the Tea Party represents: conservatives really are fed up with both parties in Washington, D.C. The Republican base allowed Obama to be re-elected when an estimated five million of us stayed home in the 2012 election. It may not have been wise, but it happened for a very good reason: they didn't see the Republican Party representing them.
The D.C. establishment, and this includes both parties, is doing very well, thank you. The suburbs around Washington are the wealthiest in the nation. They and their families were untouched by the Obama economic meltdown. A huge government, spending a quarter of our nation's wealth, with almost half the populace dependent on their largesse, is good for them. It is not good for us.
The Republican leadership want to defeat ObamaCare, but mostly they want to use it as a campaign talking point to return to power. They are not willing to fight with all their hearts and minds to protect the American people from this disaster. That might be risky. That might not play well in this week's polls.

I used to agree with that. But now, I see not voting as a revolutionary act.
I voted for Romney in the last election. But now I see that doing so only plays into the GOPe's hands. We will never move the Republicans to the conservative side until even the GOP-e realizes that they cannot win without the conservative base.
If a conservative Republican is not available in an election, I'm staying home.
If that means another Democrat trifecta such as we had in 2008, so be it. As scary and devastating as that prospect might be, it is hardly any less so than having a useless "moderate" Republican majority in Congress, or a "moderate" Republican in the White House who continue push the progressive agenda.
We are out of time now. Our country is already probably too far gone to save. If the non-conservative Republicans get destroyed in 2014 and 2016, perhaps that will force the Republican Party to reconsider its present course. If not, who needs them.
How does it help us to keep putting the GOP-e back in power.
The reality is that politicians are rarely ideological. Most of the time, they will play whatever role gets them a comfy job with nice perks and good opportunities for graft.
Didnt two of them vote for the Senate state internet sales tax enforcement bill, called Market-place-Fairness Act?
That one really peed me off.
The Pubbies are collectivists, too.
Collectivism only benefits the rich and the poor and the two party political system we have only represents them.
To the rest...BOHICA!
If people ever figure this out and also understand the horrors of collectivism they’ll never, ever vote for one again.
See my tag line.
That’s okay. I despise the people who despise me.And I vote, so I wont vote for anybody who is not a Christian and a Conservative and strict Constitutionalist. If that means third party. So be it. I won’t support the direction of the GOP-e.

Yes, I think they did. They couched their vote because of ‘unfair competition’ with brick and mortar stores here by Amazon, etc. but the truth is they wanted the frigging tax money for the state. Taxes....money, power, control.
I buy a BUNCH on Amazon...about half of the stuff I buy comes from other ‘brick and mortar’ small stores all over the country. It evens out, but they just want the money.
I live in libs Maryland where Dems have complete control no competition, Martin O malley.
He raised state sales tax, alcohol and cigarette taxes,, income taxes, gas tax, even a rain tax because he can. (gay marriage and gun control too)
So those GA GOP Senators and McCain and Grahamnesty voting for that Reid bill to force Amazon and others to charge me sales taxes to give to O malley totally enraged me.
Neither danced with the ones that brought them. Saxby turned his back on those who sent him as soon as the votes were tallied.
Oh for the days of Coverdell and even Zell Miller.
Never liked Zell as Gov, but as Senator, he served us well.
I have a better term but not for prime time.
GOP = Grand Old Pussies
No one in the Republican Party is lower than John McCain — not even Karl Rove. McCain is the party’s very own Benedict Arnold.
To be called conservative would be much more correct for “me” than to be called a republican.
However, I will leave you to mop up my capitalization errors and I will help save the country. :) Hopefully, you still understood what I said which is way more important than being a grammar nazi.
I agree. Rand Paul is starting to show his true colors too.
That's OK. We despise them as well.
It's kinda funny when you think about it, because it's quite obvious that the democrat establishment despises their base as well.
To quote Rush "words mean things", and the words "Republican" and "republican" have come to mean very different things.
In 2013, there is little reason to have congress meet in DC. Everything should be done openly and electronically. With few exceptions, just about everything could be done remotely. Keep DC around for swearing in, SOTU, and other assorted ceremonies, but not much more than that.
Even a lot of stuff that is routinely done behind closed doors could be opened up. Secrecy is the bane of a Republic, and should be strictly limited to where it absolutely cannot be avoided. Every single document produced should be available immediately online without exception. THOMAS does a pretty good job of this, but much more needs to be done routinely.
“We also have to admit that a traitor in our midst will always result in our defeat, and it is absolutely necessary to destroy the traitor before we can prevail.”
Very true! But it is sad that we have to eradicate a bunch of so-called “republican office holders” before we can devote our full attention to the RATs. That he “outed” this trash, is probably the single most important element to Cruz’ “filibuster,” and I’ll bet you it was on his “to do” list when he stood up and started speaking.
” Luckily, we have a voice in Ted Cruz, Lee, Jan Brewer, West and we need to support and pump these guys up.”
Brewer? She’s long gone from my list. Hopefully there will be a better alternative for AZ voters next time.
