Yuck Yuck (Tucker Carlson and Charles Krauthammer excoriate Cruz over Obamacare defunding)
Legal Insurrection ^ | 9-23-2013 | William A. Jacobson

Posted on 09/23/2013 4:57:28 PM PDT by servo1969

Tonight on Special Report with Bret Baier both Tucker Carlson and Charles Krauthammer were excoriating Cruz over the issue of Obamacare defunding.  That's fine.

If you think he's wrong or foolish or whatever, make the case.

But as part of their arguments each brought up that Cruz was born in Canada.  Carlson mentioning that there were questions as to whether Cruz could be president and Krauthammer joking that Cruz could be Prime Minister of Canada.

What did that have to do with anything?  The topic was defunding Obamacare and Senate strategy.

.@TuckerCarlson @krauthammer What does Cruz being born in Canada have 2 do w Obamacare? Y bring it up tonight on @SpecialReport ?

— Legal Insurrection (@LegInsurrection) September 23, 2013

.@Krauthammer: "@TedCruz can be PM of Canada" - yuck yuck - don't u have better arguments than that over Obamacare defunding?

— Legal Insurrection (@LegInsurrection) September 23, 2013

You can make the case against Cruz’s tactics, if you want, without going where you went.

This was my 17,000th tweet ever, whatever numerological significance that holds:

FWIW @tedcruz eligible 2B president http://t.co/4SQ5pTEjlB cc: @TuckerCarlson @krauthammer

— Legal Insurrection (@LegInsurrection) September 23, 2013

As much of a pain as it was to do the research, at least it’s out there: natural born Citizens: Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Ted Cruz.

Bookmark it. If tonight is any indication, you’ll need it for the 2016 Republican primaries.

Where did your “since his father was a Canadian citizen.” come from?

His Dad was a Cuban refugee who had resided in the USA a number of years prior to working in Canada when Ted was born. “Resided in the USA” are key words, look em up regarding NBC.

They will be out.

Wait until the taxpayers get informed on how the congress and their staff members are exempt from this, once said taxpayers experience triple premiums and much less benefits/ no benefits for their families.

Not one of these guys will be supported. especially the republicans, whose voters expect the opposite.

Cornyn and McConnell are the only two republican senators supporting Reid right now, and Cornyn having claimed to be supporting Cruz this morning.

He will be done.

They are seriously underestimating Cruz.

I agree. The man who is demonized for attacking the system turns into a saint when the system attacks the voter’s pocketbook.

Krauthammer, Tucker Bow-Tie Carlson, Joe Scarborough, Rachelle Maddow, what’s the difference? Not enough to watch them to find out.

It is the very very unwise or seriously leveraged who doesn’t join with Cruz.

Turn off FOX News! Hit them where it hurts most, in the ratings. Why watch as they mock us?

Thomas Sowell:

Obamacare defund attempt helps president
http://www.wnd.com/2013/09/obamacare-defund-attempt-helps-president/

What could possibly rescue Barack Obama from all these political problems and create a distraction that takes all his scandals off the front page? Only one thing: the Republicans.

By making a futile and foredoomed attempt to defund Obamacare, congressional Republicans have created the distraction that Obama so much needs. Already media attention has shifted to the possibility of a government shutdown.

Politically, it doesn’t matter that the Republicans are not really trying to shut down the government. What matters is that this distraction solves Barack Obama’s political problems that he could not possibly have solved by himself.

Should Obamacare be defunded? Absolutely. It is an economic disaster and will be a medical disaster, as well as destroying the Constitution’s protections of American citizens from the unbridled power of the federal government.

For that matter, President Obama deserves to be impeached for arbitrarily waiving laws he doesn’t like, in defiance of his oath of office and the Constitution’s separation of powers.

But, for the same reason that it makes no sense to impeach either President Obama or Chief Justice Roberts, it makes no sense to attempt to defund Obamacare. That reason is that it cannot be done. The world is full of things that ought to be done but cannot in fact be done.

The time, effort and credibility Republicans are investing in trying to defund Obamacare is a high-risk, low-yield investment.

Even if, by some miracle, the Republicans managed to get the Senate to go along with defunding Obamacare, President Obama can simply veto the bill.

There is a United States of America today only because George Washington understood that his army was not able to fight the British troops everywhere, but had to choose carefully when and where to fight. Futile symbolic confrontations were a luxury that could not be afforded then and cannot be afforded now.

Tucker/Krauthammer and O’Reilly/Rove made me sick tonight.

Pitiful, elitist, conceited crackpots - talk about what WE THE PEOPLE are ticked off about.

We are ticked off about the 30 hour work week.

We are ticked off about the rate design of Employer Penalty vs Employer Health Care Costs.

We are ticked off about the hiring of 16,000 IRS agents.

We are ticked off about all those tax increases,

We are ticked off about the excise taxes......

Yet you jerks only talk about procedures!

Krauthammer and O’Rielly were orgasmic over Obama. Cruz who is so much better at everything than Obama is pi$$ed on. I understand that Obamacare will not be overturned. But let our representatives voice our discontent with passion, honesty, courage and conviction. Let the Democrats vote for Obamacare. Let the Republicans vote for funding the government and defunding Obamacare

WELL EFF Fox News. I'll spend the next few years watching DWTS or whatever else is on instead.

Carlson can go fall asleep on a highway. We need to flush out these stealth RINOS in one massive purge.

I was blown away by the depth to which (screen name, sourcery) has gone to prove the meaning and intended and actual constitutional meaning of natural born Citizen

I know the essay you're referring to. I've posted the link to that incredible piece of work many times on FR. It is absolutely one of the very best explanations of the subject that I have ever run across, and should be required reading for anyone wishing to discuss NBC on this site.

John Cornyn, you’re not fooling ANYONE, so screw you, too.

I second that!

When Ted Cruz was on the ascendancy, it was obvious that Cornyn felt threatened. He strangely became 'conservative' outside of election time.

His real self has caught up with him now. He's nowhere to be found in this fight. The chicken livered coward is letting the junior Senator do all the heavy lifting while he hides in the shadows.

"I think Cruz would make a damn fine president."

He might be okaY BUT Palin would be the best.

I concur 100%.

Not one person in the media is willing to stand with the people.

Sharyl Attkison of CBS is one of the only honest people in media I can think of. Her reporting on Benghazi has been unrelentingly terrific and fact based.

"...it makes no sense to attempt to defund Obamacare. That reason is that it cannot be done."

I normally agree 100% with everything Thomas Sowell says, but I believe he's mistaken here.

The House of Representatives holds the power of the purse, per the U.S. Constitution. The choice to fund, or not fund, any government expense, is entirely in THEIR hands.

If that body refuses to give Obamacare any funding, there's simply no legal mechanism to do otherwise.

If Hairy Reid and Barry Obama want to shut down the government in a fit of anger, should the House hold the line, then it's on them. The House is signalling that they're willing to fund every other aspect of the federal government for the next fiscal year.

Yes, a RINO of the worst kind. I heard he was hiding in his bathroom. We need to send him a box of Lomotil so he can get rid of his loose bowels.

John Cornyn is a major embarrassment to Texas conservatives, who trusted him to carry their will to the halls of Congress. The man is a weasel sell-out of the first order.

He’s up for re-election next year. I doubt he’ll be back after having been shown to be a worthless coward by Ted Cruz.

Cruz really is flushing out the phonies.

Cruz is proving one thing for sure.

It takes REAL LEADERSHIP to flush out the enemy.

The next step is to eradicate them.

Sad thing was that both Repubs and ‘rats in the audience showed most disagreement with Hume’s statement that Cruz is a rising star in the party - too “hot” for the weak-kneed party regulars to accept apparently.....

Yeah. I think he is thinking of different strategy to use against the left. But he is basically in favor of defunding, just not doing it the way Cruz is wanting to because Obama can use the issue to distract. But now this is the strategy being used so one must support them. Sowell is Monday morning quarterbacking.
