The libertarian philosophy is taking the Republican Party by storm, according to a poll conducted by FreedomWorks, a DC-based grassroots service center with over 6 million members.
With Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) and many other liberty-minded politicians gaining influence, libertarianism has generated new interest inside the Republican Party, much to the chagrin of the GOP's political establishment....
"FreedomWorks' poll shows that 42 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of the word libertarian,' and only 10 percent don't know the word, compared to 27 percent who don't know nationally," they added.
And the term "libertarian" may still turn off some Republican voters, the basic message of the philosophy earns significant favor. The poll found that 68% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents agree with the statement that "individuals should be free to do as they like as long as they don't hurt others, and that the government should keep out of people's day-to-day lives."
What's more, an eye-popping 78% of Republicans consider themselves to be "fiscally conservative, but socially moderate," which is a significant finding given the debate in the GOP on social issues.
Looking outside of just the Republican box, the poll found that 66% of respondents consider themselves to fiscally conservative and socially moderate.
These numbers show that the libertarian message is appealing, not only to Republican voters, but also to all Americans; further advancing the case for conservative-libertarian fusionism as a way to promote free market ideals, limited government, and personal liberty....

Uh, Ok, if you say so.
You’ve described your responses to me quite nicely.
And about the opening article? This is talking about political method (and mainly in terms which indicate backing down from the statist follies of Democrats). This has nothing to do with “moral libertarianism.”
It pains me that I should even have to have made the distinction to you more than once. Try taking a chill pill (by all means make it a totally legal, herbal one) and then come back.
It can only damn you if you let how you feel define what you are. I can sniff out that kind of broken phoniness from a thousand miles away now.
Pal I been there done that exactly where you are. Thought that my high dudgeon was of itself righteous enough to cut through all folly. NOPE it was not...
And the trouble with high dudgeons is that they have two cutting edges, one aimed at the person having it. You’ll smack yourself as hard with a high dudgeon as you smack someone else with it.
God was not woofing when He said “Beloved, do not take your own vengeance, but leave room for [God’s] wrath.” We are blind klutzes! We can’t possibly avenge ourselves with even a first order of accuracy. Let God get mad at your enemies and call out the vengeance, to show them just how low down and awful they are. Your job: love them. Ya know, just like what moral libertarianism completely misses....
Actually the article is very focused on how great it is that the country is moving left on social issues, that republicans are moving toward libertarianism on social issues.
We know that moving libertarian means moving left on social issues.
Those rinos are becoming accepting of homosexuals in the military and of the military accepting marriage equality, and of course the rest of the social agenda.
“”Whats more, an eye-popping 78% of Republicans consider themselves to be fiscally conservative, but socially moderate, which is a significant finding given the debate in the GOP on social issues.

From the look at what the article actually said, you’re generalizing almost as bad as the Official Libertarian Party (aka herd of mongrel cats) is here. These guys DO bring moral libertarianism into their platforms, but they also keep up the confusion with political libertarianism that I painstakingly pointed out to you several posts above. Of course it’s evil and it’s not even self consistent. If you *WANTED* to vote for them it would be a pig-in-a-poke as to what you’d actually get.
Because you are so focused on damning, you can’t discern the two threads of thought here. “They’re just a bunch of low down rotten scoundrels and they make me mad and to hell with them!”
You really don’t understand, I am a conservative, my sole interest is in advancing three legged conservative traditional America and blocking this 50 year move to the left on social issues.
I am your opposition, a conservative, a social conservative.
This year the military accepted homosexuality in the military and accepted marriage equality of homosexuals who are married legally in states that allow it.
You want to promote your agenda without actually admitting to your agenda.
Judging from your recent posts, they are not only increasingly weird and personal, but you sound like you are getting pretty drunk and preachier and preachier and more and more like you are talking religion and from some self righteous state of mind.
>> Assertion: The states should have the freedom to make such [moral] laws.
>> Question: whether abortion is a states rights issue,
If not a federal law, would it not default to the states? If so, does that not permit liberal states to legalize abortion?
Now, wouldn’t it be divisive for me to suggest that you support abortion by virtue of not making it illegal at the federal level?
semantics
libertopians do not want abortion restricted at the state level either.
I am personally socially conservative but I dont think these issues are any of the governments business.

That makes you libertarian. You can have a wide range of personal beliefs but one bedrock is freedom and small government. I like it.
A real social conservative does not vote for social liberalism.
A real social conservative does not vote for social liberalism.

you have a choice.
Sure we generally have a choice, that is why conservatives are so against rinos and libertarian republicans who are soft on social issues.
The “I’m personally opposed to abortion, but.....”.
So you’re not against a federal ban either?

What is the libertarian position on the military accepting homosexuals, or recognizing soldiers who were legally gay married in some states as long as they recognize heterosexual marriage, as they have since even before the constitution was ratified?

You keep ignoring a pretty basic question about a current issue.
What foundation are you trying to establish in order to move on to your next question or assertion?
This is a current political issue, of about the last 2 or 3 months or so, if you don’t know the libertarian position then just say so, don’t work to avoid it for post after post.

You’re asking me a question you already have the answer to; a policy view effectively stated on the LP platform.
You’re not answering my question. What foundation are you trying to establish by asking me that question? Be direct.
