AUSTIN, Texas In a ceremony at the Texas State Capitol, Gov. Rick Perry signed Senate Bill 162, which was passed by the 83rd Texas Legislature to address employment challenges facing military service members, recently separated veterans and their spouses.
The bipartisan legislation requires state agencies that issue occupational licenses to recognize substantially equivalent licenses issued by other jurisdictions including the armed forces and provide an expedited licensure process for these individuals.

This article also has today's date on it, so not sure if it's been posted before. It's very good news for military personnel moving to Texas!

I really like Rick Perry. It’s a damn shame he tripped all over his bait and tackle in 2013.

Very good question....I’d like to know the answer to that, too, since my hubby is one of those “older” vets. :)

“What does this mean for older veterans?”
I didn't see an age limit in that article.
This bill, now law, will help our vets get certification and jobs and we won't be taking guns from vets like Hussein and Homeland Security want to do.
We welcome all vets to the state of Texas. Get out of states that think vets may be dangerous survivalists and become domestic terrorists. We preppers have that same rope around our neck - Homeland Security thinks we may be domestic terrorists. What garbage.

Were you in Vietnam? I just found out that any veteran that was in Vietnam during the war can clam benefits for being exposed to it! It is a new law just passed in the last year or so! You don’t have to prove you were exposed - just that you were in Vietnam between 1-9-1962 and 5-7- 1975. More info if any one needs it.

Good. State licensure is become the modern equivalent of the Medieval guild system. It is fast becoming more of a liability than a benefit, if it isn’t already.
