Why Can't Navy Protect its installations ?

Why does the Navy rely on civilian police to protect the area where chief of naval operations lives ?

The White House is controlling the media and using the Washington Metro Police and the Park Service to tell the story...this is so they can recieve OBAMACARE funds for their shock troops

Can one imagine west point being unable to police its campus ....

the Navy Shore Patrol has apparently been called down like we saw in Benghazi so OBAMA can make a point about firearms...disguisting

Don’t forget what Dear Leader has already told us. There is a direct link to the Navy Yard massacre and extreme wing Republicans.

Costs, believe it or not rent-a-cops are a lot cheaper than even that fresh out of boot camp E-1. So you very rarely see military manning the security posts at most bases any more.

Someone should do a study of the % of people shot on navy bases before they banned guns and after. I’m guessing that the % after is way up.

Navy security would have no arrest powers in US against civilians.

thats the best example of how unprepared we are for war...or even protecting troops at home....the NAVY has apparently been ordered by OBAMA to stand down for creeps in Mayors office...

Military personnel move every few years and many don’t vote. Civilian government guards create jobs for Democrats. Contract civilian guards can easily be let go. They are also a “created” job. With the Democrats, security is low on the list for why they hire security personnel. It’s about money and votes for them.

This is standard throughout the DOD. There is a long-standing policy that the government should not be in competition with private industry, hence routine services like security, maintenance, and the like are required to be contracted out. The work goes to the low bidder, with the usual preferences for minority-owned companies, so you get no more than what you pay for (and generally less). You can't blame this one on King Barry.

They need to bring back Dick Marcinko. He had quite a history testing the readiness of military installations.

So what do you think the Marines or Shore Patrol would have done that the civlian security force didn’t do?

“Can one imagine west point being unable to police its campus”

I don’t know what your vision of West Point is...while I was there, a few Midshipman were able to smuggle a mule off post, if that gives you an idea of the security there.

The Navy once relied on the Army to defend it’s naval bases. Back in ‘41, I believe...

When I was at West Point we had M-14s in our rooms, the ones with the selector switch intact.
