The president has powers to fight income inequality, President Obama argued in an interview broadcast Sunday, adding that Republicans in Congress have hobbled his efforts to do it. Appearing on ABC´s "This Week" program, Obama acknowledged that the wealthiest Americans have benefited disproportionately from the economic recovery of recent years. But he was quick to add that much of that trend is due to globalization, technology and, not least, the GOP´s opposition to his economic agenda all factors he suggested are beyond his control. "I think the president can stop it," Obama said, when asked about the growing income

Good. Since when was fixing “economic inequality” part of the Federal Government’s job?
What he means is his redistribution of wealth... as explained and articulated in the communist manifesto.
He is a great example of a POS who snuck into a position of power. He has never even given us he college records that he claims qualifies him for the job. He is a fraud, and according to him the only perfect person in Washington DC and the USA.
Listen to him, nothing that goes bad is either his responsibility or his fault but anything and everything that goes good and right he claims the spotlight for. Would any of you allow your own children to have this attitude and not correct them and make them take responsibility for themselves?? I didn't think so.
To be fair to the Idiot in Chief Obama, the IRS has carried guns since before Obama arrived. Probably decades.
I believe years ago while he was still a student he argued that the “civil rights act” did not go far enough because it did not address income disparity. I’ll check and see if I can find the details.
I am not able to find it. Though I would almost be willing to share I read such at one time. I did however find reference to how John Rawls’ book the “Theory of Justice” influenced Obama. This article from “American Thinker” is a good explanation of that influence. I don’t know why it is so difficult to find articles that cite Obama’s writings when he was at Harvard. It’s almost like they have been purged.

Also for your reference is this excerpt cited at JSTOR of Frank I Michelman’s article in University of Pennsylvania Law Review, titled “In Pursuit of Constitutional Welfare Rights:One View of Rawls’ Theory of Justice.”
Michelman taught at Harvard when Obama was a student there. According to “Breitbart” Michelman was a major supporter of “Critical Race Theory” pioneer Derrick Bell. “Bell believed that the American legal system enshrined white supremacy, and that the Constitution—even after the Civil War amendments—was fundamentally racist. The only to redeem it, he argued, would be through the passage of amendments that guaranteed socioeconomic rights.”
The above is from a “newsle’ article that mirrors a “Breitbart” article.

From these sources it is not hard for me to conclude Obama concurs with a political philosophy that would favor a Constitutional amendment to remove income inequality.
...as well they should. Income equality means everyone is equally poor, Obama.
How about Obama distribute, equally HIS wealth....say, among 10,000 random people without jobs. After all, it is HIS wealth.
Let me do what I want with what little wealth I have. Let Donald Trump do what HE wants with what wealth HE possesses.
Ever heard of freedom, Obama?
Oh, after 5 years, you’ve found what the problem is! Republicans. Brilliant!
Certainly. Neither Obama or anyone else can ‘redistribute’ talent.
Somehow the fact that his cronies are benefitting the most from government largess escapes public awareness.
Real economic growth from value creation is scarce. Those I am familiar with who know the path to prosperity are on ‘slow roll’ or have ‘Gone Galt’. America, as we have known it, is over. We have no common morality, the source of functioning Societies.
Economic equality can, only, be achieved, if the government is not there to rob you of it.
Yeah, that's what the doom and gloomers were saying after Carter tanked the economy. Said America's best days were over and we'd just have to get used to it. Then a funny thing happened on the way to America's final collapse. Reagan was elected, took a few bold conservative steps and the economy boomed for decades.
Go, grassroots conservatives, go!!
Run, Ted, Run!!
Fighting "income inequality" isn't in your job description, moron. It's not something that you have the power to change anyway, except through the imposition of a Communist system of government, which you can only achieve by murdering half the citizens of this country.
So how far do you want to push this, Mr. Hope & Change?
BS to Obama.
Right you are.
And then there will be no money with any real value since so many of those who produce the value supporting the money will be gone.
Also, any money that those remaining have will not be able to purchase that which is available today for purchase as so many of the producers of products and wealth (those who had to die to ALLOW equal distribution of wealth) will be gone.
What a wonderful world it will be...... NOT!
In a kindergarten class, Obama would get near unanimous agreement with his efforts. But that's why all societies in history have had a clear, inflexible distinction between adult status and child status.
No one opposes efforts to fight eliminate or reduce economic inequality. Just the means of reducing or eliminating it.
Certainly, most adults should agree that it is wrong, both that the "wealthy" treat the poor literally as slaves, or that poor treat the "wealthy" literally as slaves, if in neither case the slave has no say in the matter.
Substitute "worker with a real (non government) job" for "wealthy," and "economic indolent parasite" for "poor" and the same moral and ethical truism holds.
