Editorial: Minimum wage boost in California is long overdue
Sacramento Bee ^ | September 12, 2013 | Editorial Board

There can be no debate about the nation’s anemic economic recovery and its effect on the working poor. While the stock market is soaring again, jobs and wages continue to lag.

Democratic leaders and the governor have rightly agreed to raise California’s minimum wage significantly – to $10 over two years. It would increase to $9 on July 1, 2014, and to $10 on Jan. 1, 2016.

In an economy with a record-high income gap (the top 10 percent of earners took more than half of the nation’s total income last year), such an adjustment is justified and long overdue. AB 10 is designed to increase the value of work, a basic American value that both Democrats and Republicans should support.

Ah, yes.

Mexifornia is in a full stall mode and is losing altitude.

So, let’s do the liberal thing and pull that stick back a little to start going up again.

Liberal logics.

Works for climate control.
Works for the economy.
Works for everything.

Try it, you’ll like it.

“While the stock market is soaring again,”

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

That’s only because they are addicted to Uncle Sugar’s 80+ billion a month bond purchase crack habit!!!

top 10 percent of earners took more than half of the nation’s total income last year…

Took?

Liberals equate earning money with taking it out of the hands of people who won't work or won't attempt to better themselves.

“It would increase to $9 on July 1, 2014, and to $10 on Jan. 1, 2016.”

And businesses will suddenly get by with a few less workers around those two dates.

Does anyone trumpeting a rise in the MINIMUM wage have any idea how the real world works?
You may well MANDATE that an employer pay a (given) legally required wage, set by politicians feeling good about themselves.
You cannot MANDATE that anyone be an employer.
Raise that “minimum wage” and you have destroyed the jobs at the lowest rung of the employment ladder.
Raise that “minimum wage” and you have destroyed any chance for the 1st job seeker to find that 1st job. How often this past summer did we hear of the total lack of jobs for young people out of school for the summer?
Those who proudly vote to raise the “minimum wage” end up trying to create “government programs” to provide entry jobs for those they themselves have caused to be without any hope of a job.

jobs and wages continue to lag

Liberal idiocy continues to amaze!

Jobs and wages continue to lag, so, let's pass a law to make more jobs disappear or move away.

The state where 85% of the kids are born into welfare wants even more charity from the private sector.

IMO this is a way to accelerate illegal immigration since businesses would have reason to seek even more of these third world second grade drop outs.

Sacramento is heavily black and they are the ones most hurt by minimum wage laws (exactly what was intended). One could support this with signs saying something like “Support the $XX.XX minimum wage! Get the blacks out of the workforce and onto welfare where they belong!”

They keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results, but we aren’t supposed to say they are insane.

It would seem that liberals perceive wealth as something that is like a river with people living all along it and if everyone only takes what he needs all would be wonderful but some greedy people insist on diverting part of the river into their own reservoirs and they keep taking more and more of it. They simply cannot seem to understand that it is more like a system where people must carry salt water from the ocean home and work hard to desalinify it so that it can be used for drinking therefore those who work the hardest have the most fresh water. Those who can come up with a new technology to desalinify water may have far more than they might ever actually need and others may find it easier to mow that person’s lawn, roof his house, cut his hair, cook his meals etc. in exchange for water than to trek back and forth carrying their own water. Liberals imagine that the person who has all the water stole it from them somehow and should be compelled to give it back.

I have long wondered why some people cannot seem to comprehend what seems so simple and yet those same people often claim to have knowledge of things that I despair of ever understanding.

Those who have jobs will be hurt the most. Some will be laid off in order to pay those remaining the higher salary. Those who have no jobs will still have no jobs.............

AB 10 is designed to increase the value of work

It will do that, all right, by making work more scarce.

A very interesting meme, is actually quite thoughtful and needs to be both pondered and spread around.

“Welfare is the New Eugenics”

Be prepared, liberals and leftists lose their marbles when they read this. I think even they make the connection, and do not want this idea spread.
