Graham's Hawkish Posture Confronts War-Weary Voters in South Carolina

Senator weighs pushing for unpopular missile strike as his re-election opponents wait in the wings.

As one of the leading advocates for bipartisan immigration reform, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., had already firmly affixed himself to one cause deeply unpopular with conservatives heading into a re-election year.

[POLL: Most Americans Oppose Military Strike in Syria]

Now as a war-weary Congress weighs a military strike in Syria, he finds himself championing another policy that risks antagonizing the base.

...

Next to Sen. John McCain, there's no more forceful and visible advocate for a muscular response...

Nonetheless, as he seeks a third term in 2014, Graham appears fully cognizant of the risks of his hawkish posture.

"My problem is I'm trying to explain to the American people why Syria matters while my commander-in-chief is AWOL,"

Despicable.

Putting our brave young men in harm’s way to save his political bacon.

A hemp necktie and a stout oak tree are needed here.

His hawkish posture has nothing to do with it. It is his eager willingness to hold Obama’s jock that has SC voters upset.

he finds himself championing another policy that risks antagonizing the base.

This is why he needs to come clean on his personal life, so that he cannot be blackmailed.

That man is SUCH an idiot! I am, however hopeful for South Carolinians as they now have a Republican Governor. If it can happen there (AND in Wisconsin) it can happen anywhere! :)

Whatever “they” got on him, it must be good....or bad depending on how you look at it. Whatever it is, he’s willing to lose an election to stop it from getting out. Then again, maybe he’ll get the benefit of voter fraud, too.

I don’t believe it’s “war weariness”. Personally, I just don’t trust an islamist faggot who couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag as CIC.

Gays are the only congresscritters that cannot be blackmailed on the basis of sexuality. It is not considered sporting by the MSM to make an issue out of someone being gay. No one in the media has ever made an issue out of our Presidents strange life.

However, look in contrast how the media treated Herman Cain. He is many times more qualified than Obama ever was, having run a company, graduated with a technical degree and lived harmoniously in the corporate world instead of stoked grievances for a living. The media beatified a bimbo and treated her like some poor innocent girl that Cain ruined for life based upon an encounter or two.

Just my opinion.

Gays are the only congresscritters that cannot be blackmailed on the basis of sexuality.

Anyone can be blackmailed if they lead a double life. A "conservative" republican who is also a closeted gay man can be blackmailed. This is allegedly what is happening to Graham.

Question: Are Democrats blackmailing Lindsey Graham into supporting the destruction of our economy through Cap & Tax?

I heard on FoxNews this morning that Obama has lost Senator Pryor (D-Arkansas) on Syria.

Pryor is facing some serious challengers for 2014, so he is turning conservative. He saw what happened to his colleague, former Senator Blanche Lincoln, a couple of years ago.
