The Marine Corps has suddenly dropped criminal charges against an officer in the infamous Taliban urination video case, heading off what promised to be an embarrassing pre-trial hearing for the commandant on Wednesday.

Defense attorneys for Capt. James V. Clement had won a judge’s order, over objections from Marine prosecutors, for two staff attorneys to testify in open court about how senior commanders had interfered in the case to get a guilty verdict.

It sounds like we have 2 commanders who need to face court marshal.

The stench at the top levels of command is overpowering. Amos is the one who should be separated under less than honorable conditions, not Cap. Clements!

Unlawful command influence is why you never put yourself in the hands of the military during legal proceedings. All they teach you while in is BS about the military system’s Code Of Conduct is a lie. Always elevate your court’s exposure and get a lawyer well versed in military protocol.

I’m seeing this happen more and more. Senior Commanders, attempting to get brownie points for advancement in this PC military, are sticking their authority where it doesn’t belong and causing cases like this to be dismissed or charges dropped. My personal opinion, as a 28-year, retired military, if this soldier did what he his charged with doing I’d want him out of the military now. He disgraced the uniform and everyone wearing the uniform, however because of the undue command influence he gets to stay. Commanders like this need to be shuffled to the far northern reaches.

From my experience things like this happen due to poor discipline. In a well led unit these things just dont happen.

It will be interesting if the air force sargent being charged by his lesbian commander for refusing her order to affirm his support for gay marriage will be able to use the same defense!

#1 Marines aren't soldiers. #2 I could care less if they pissed on some dead Taliban. Should they have Done it? No. Am I losing sleep over it? No. Should they be punished? Yeah, a verbal reprimand for being dumb enough to do it on camera.

My hope is the Marines had a nice bacon and ham sandwich prior to urinating on the Taliban and that they were facing mecca.

Spend a few hours watching AQ and Taliban videos of how they treat the living.....you'll soon fine the Marines wasted perfectly good piss on some undeserving POS terrorist that would just as soon gang rape your wife and daughter, before and after their be-headings, as they would tan in the sun. And when they were finished with that, gang rape you and shoot the side of your face (toward the front) with a shotgun and laugh as you made incoherent screams while slowly bleeding out.

Save your better than them, hearts and minds garbage for someone that Gives A.D. and hasn't lost brothers to these worthless POS.

And further, rather than shuffling pansy commanders to the northern reaches......they should be unceremoniously relieved and discharged. We need more men like Mattis and we need to kill and make them understand we understand violence.

Because violence and dominance is the only thing these savages understand - and I say that with 4 combat tours fighting these bastards up close and personal. I'd be happy to have these Marines on my left and right.

They were probably trying to curry favor with the muzzie in the white hut by bringing these charges, and I'm guessing there are far more than just these two who deserve court martial.

Unfortunately our senior military leaders have succumbed to the rampant politicalization of all the services in the current environment. I’m extremely disappointed in them. It wasn’t this bad even 10 or 20 years ago. It’s as if they no longer care about having the most effective warriors in the world today.

I have talked to a marine from Vietnam and he said they took all the pictures he had of him posing with dead enemy soldiers.

This sort of stuff happens in combat. It only becomes bad when we have a mussy for a president who wants to provide air cover for the enemy.

So how is pissing on a dead enemy any better than shooting him. Keep the morale high ground at home and let these guys defend you holier than attitude.

I am with you, brother. This matter should have been handled at the local level. No need for a court-martial. I think we lost in Afghanistan and Iraq because our political leaders and senior commanders we were not willing to do what it takes to win. If we ever go to war again, it must be for total victory or we should just stay home. Perhaps, the public is too squeamish for us to ever win a war again.

Peleliu, Iwo Jima, etc. It has happened lots of places. But too many people believe in some pussified ceremonial parade deck mentality, and the fantasy of infantry combat as some morality play where our reluctant, gentlemen warriors act as Hollywood would write it.

Nobody needed to be prosecuted. They just needed an ass chewing. Prosecuting them is doing the enemy’s work.
