Is he a natural-born citizen or isnt he? The question has been a nagging part of Barack Obamas life ever since his first presidential campaign. No amount of birth certificates and sworn statements from state officials in Hawaii, his birthplace, seemed capable of putting the issue to rest. The birther movement continues pressing the question even today, five years after Obamas election to the presidency.
The question nags anew, but this time Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is the focus because he was born in Canada to an American mother and Cuban father. By law, his mothers U.S. citizenship automatically confers natural citizenship to Cruz, just as for those who continue to doubt the location of Obamas birth the citizenship of Obamas American mother conferred it to him.
When it became a hot-button issue in 2008, Democrats countered that Obamas GOP opponent, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, was born to American parents at a U.S. military installation in the Panama Canal Zone. The implication being that if Republicans wanted to play the birther game, Democrats could, too.
This is such a nonissue, regardless of whether the candidate is Republican or Democrat. Nevertheless, narrow-minded individuals, including some prominent personalities such as billionaire former presidential contender Donald Trump, are doggedly trying to concoct controversy and introduce doubt where there should be none.
These men have been natural U.S. citizens from birth and have every right to seek the nations highest office. Article II of the Constitution sets out three eligibility requirements to be president: that the person be at least 35 years old, a resident within the United States for 14 years and a natural-born citizen.

I pretty much believe that's what Cruz did in time. I don't know all the particulars yet, but there's nothing in this world that drives me more crazy than watching a FReeper claim one set of rules for over five years, turn right around and argue the opposite line of reasoning when it's his own fair haired boy running.
His mother was single at the time. She was in a foreign nation. Cruz currently holds duel citizenship from what I understand. I'm sorry, but that does raise questions for me.
What amazes me, is that in a nation of 317 million people, we only seem to be able to find the fringe person that can lead. What the hell is that all about? We don't have any citizens that were born on U. S. soil that have a sound enough Conservative mind that they can run, win, and lead this nation forward?
If we don't, then what the hell are we wasting our time on? And here you are already setting up the scenario so nobody can discuss the issue. Wow, how very pro First Amendment of you.
I like Cruz a lot, but I want him vetted just the same way we would any other person. I am not convinced he is eligible yet, and I'm not going to sit here and have you tell me whether I can discuss the issue here or not.
Whatever the in’s and out’s of the situation (I’ve been pretty much keeping out of the Cruz debates) I see clear trouble brewing. People are being one-dimensionally labeled here. He’s a birther, or she’s not a birther, etc. We are not one dimensional creatures any more than God who created us in His image is a one dimensional God... folks, give the Creator some respect wouldja??? Talk if you must about birthist philosophy (now there’s a new term) but this label stuff... well you know even a blind pig gets an acorn now and then, and the liberals are right when they complain about one dimensional personal labeling. (They err to the other end of the continuum, a dirty grey equality, but that’s another story. It does not apply here.)

I believe the amount of birth certificates has been *zero*, unless you count the ones allegedly found in Kenya.
There have been multiple "Certificates of Live Birth", meaning that at the very least, all but one were forgeries, but we've just been told that there is one and that that should be good enough for anyone. And the fact that there was one doesn't actually state what it said.
Curiously, did anyone actually swear an affidavit that there was or about what it said.
No, he doesn't.

Do we have a “plan B” to execute if “plan A” (candidacy) does not pan out?
For what it’s worth I say if there is genuine, arguable doubt... be bold. The Democrats were. We should be too. Push Cruz until either better is encountered (I still love Sarah Palin but some disagree) or another insuperable wall is reached. It would be real amusing to watch the Democrats, while Barack Obama is still seated, raise arguments that will (er, pardon the term) blacken Barack. But you know, I don’t think they’d dare. If in doubt as Martin Luther said, sin boldly... the Lord will correct as needed....
One of the 2012 R Presidential candidates was overheard by Larry Sellin saying that nobody would touch the eligibility issue because they all knew it went WAY DEEPER than anybody was willing to delve. IOW, they all knew that 2008 was a coup.
This article has so many inaccuracies it isn’t even funny. It’s the same low standard of accuracy that we’ve come to expect from the threatened media. The first people to bring up eligibility were those contesting McCain’s eligibility. And the first legal challenge to OBAMA’s eligibility came from Phil Berg, a Hillary supporter, before the 2008 DNC Convention. Specifically one day after Stephanie Tubbs died of an aneurysm (a preferred method of medical assassination) shortly after she had agreed to present a petition at the DNC Convention allowing a 2nd vote where delegates would be released from voting for the candidate they were pledged to, and Obama’s ineligibility could be exposed and Hillary lawfully chosen as the D candidate. Tubbs had to agree to present the petition because Bill Gwatney, who had agreed to present the petition, was shot dead very shortly (like one day, IIRC) after he agreed to do so...
So four critical errors in this author’s discussion of Obama’s eligibility situation:
1. McCain’s eligibility was challenged first.
2. Obama’s eligibility was first challenged by a democrat in the primary.
3. The certified statements from Hawaiian officials include a letter of verification in which the HI state registrar refused to certify any birth facts listed on the actual request form and a Hawaii Democratic Party Official Certification of Nomination wherein Brian Schatz failed to certify that Obama was the candidate of the Hawaii Democratic Party (since one whole physical line of text was taken out in a desperate attempt to get rid of the standard “Constitutionally-eligible” language and the required certification of being the HDP’s candidate was inadvertently removed). So we have no idea who his mother was.
4. Even if Stanley Ann Dunham was his mother, she was too young to pass US citizenship on to her child.
What is this supposed to mean? It whizzed right by me.
The Dallas Morning Bowel Movement sure has it out for Senator Cruz.

Amen to that.
Yeah, but they admitted he’s eligible here.
Good.
The paper is still fish wrap.
That’s true, but they are leftists.
And unfortunately, there are lots of folks who have too much invested emotionally in Obama’s ineligibility, that they’re afraid Cruz will destroy their case. But I don’t know. As they’re pointing out on this very thread, Ann Dunham was not old enough at Obama’s birth to satisfy the law.
So they gave the world sound and fury, signifying nothing.
“Lord close the mouths of the young lions.”
I like Ted.

In one sense, you're wrong on that point. I am 100% certain that Obama is a son of a . . .
You really should take down your Christmas lights. Christmas has come and gone and now summer’s nearly over.
