And, to point out the obvious, if there’s a controversy about his birth... Cruz will take the bull by the horns there. We will not see a dodge’um game like we did with Obama. Go ahead and cheer Cruz until he crashes or until clearly better appears. And if he crashes, let the opprobrium be taken by his Savior, Jesus... that’s true for any deeply believing Christian... and just go on smiling to the next thing. This is the kind of resilience which will make Democrats gnash their teeth.

I believe this as well.

Yeah... I have no problem with cheering Cruz out of the corner. Now we differ on Sarah Palin, but I would cheer her out of the corner too. People are not frozen into the first positions they take, and the search for perfection below God in this mortal coil will leave us gnashing OUR teeth. I give some credit to the Lord to guide, actually FULL credit. Even if beginning from a less than perfect place. A nice looking start does not guarantee a great finish: “Let he who stands take heed lest he fall.” And likewise a less than perfect start does not guarantee a bad finish: “To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, because God has power to make him stand.”

Don’t be an ass. We’ve already have one Muslim president, don’t need another. Fight harder against these bastards. Fight for a true conservative like Cruz.

I pray Ted Cruz will run.

Sarah Palin is also a choice of mine but I have the feeling she won’t.

Hope I’m wrong because the two of them on the ticket would be fantastic.

Palin/Cruz or Cruz/Palin.

Well if she runs as veep candidate again, you know Cruz is not going to try to put her in a shadow box like McCain did. That cramped Sarah’s style.

But hey, FWIW. The Democrats gave us the “first black president.” Why not be bold and have the GOP give us the “first woman president”? (Todd Palin then becomes First Laddie, I suppose....)

And, someone should write a realistic novel to counter that stupid one about Sarah Palin becoming a religious dictatress.

Well said...I’ll be very happy to see them in either order on the ticket.

Jim I did go read the information at the site you linked me to.

He seems to get it on a number of issues.

On others you can tell he’s a thinking man who hasn’t quit heard the right solution yet, but there are many issues and he leans in a positive direction on all of them.

One of his fixes, is to fix Social Security. Part of his plan is to raise the age of eligibility. IMO, that evidences a tendency to remain with what we have and tweak it. I want to see a comprehensive plan flip everything on it’s head.

Instead of raising the age of retirement, I want to see us offer people a way to retire even earlier, but with their own funding. Personal savings accounts figure heavily here, and cover not only Social Security Retirement funding, but also Medicare, Drugs, even homes and common family insurance products.

I do think Cruz is a good guy, and I support his efforts. I await him closing the door on the ‘natural born’ issue.

Well here’s the secret, Jaz and I’ll blurt it out until the world binds and gags me or until I’m pushing up daisies.

Ask the good Lord to exalt Himself as you (we all) exalt Him. This is the KEY to success in ANYTHING. God doesn’t just sit in the church for hour long visits on Sunday morning. God asks you to bring Him home to be with you at least as much as your dog or cat... 24/7 is the best. Sometime we get so wrought up in MEANS here that we forget the PRIME MOVER and relegate Him to the Religion threads. Bring Him out of the Religion dungeon please! He’ll bless you if you do....

On that same page he agrees SS is a ponzi scheme and says he wants to protect current retirees, but people should be allowed to have personal accounts:

Texas Tribune Interview

In September of 2011, SG Cruz was interviewed by the Texas Tribune. In that interview, SG Cruz is asked about whether or not social security is a ponzi scheme and confirms that according to the definition, it is. He then outlines how he would handle social security. First, for seniors who are currently in the system and near the system, there will be no change. For younger people, the retirement are will be raised. Second, the rate of growth of social security benefits should be equal to inflation and not greater than that amount. Finally, people should be allowed to have personal accounts which controls a portion of their savings from the Social Security system.

His name is not Barrack Hussein Obama. And that’s another thing he wants to hide.

FWIW, Ted Cruz's name is not Ted Cruz.

I like looking at SS about as much as I like looking at an impending wreck of one Amtrak train head on into another. Still... anyone who takes the bull by the horns as to how best to de-Ponzi, given what resources are available, is going to be better than nobody doing that and waiting till politicians see that the wreck is literally tomorrow.

And Ted Kennedy's name was not Ted Kennedy.

What is your point?

Thanks Jim. I did read part of what you posted. He does talk about private accounts.

I would like to see their Socials Security and Medicare payments start being held in a separate account on a sliding scale right away. Employer matching funds would go in there also.

I would like to see each new worker gifted with $10,000 the very first day, and pay that back over the next five years or so, perhaps even quicker if possible.

In a comprehensive plan, this would allow the individual to self-insure for a number of things. Auto, health ins., a few other things..., but these would be policies with very large deductibles. With the seeded $10,000 these people could save money on insurance premiums, and build wealth more rapidly. Ideally by the time they were 30, they would nearly have enough to purchase a home.

By the time folks were between 50 and 60, they would be nearing a time when their savings could support them.

In twenty years medicare and social security outlays would be about half what they are today, dwindling down after that, to where the government would be totally out of the retirement and geriatric medical prevision business.

Once that was accomplished, the health care industry would institute more fee for service models, competing and getting capitalism back to work for us in that industry.

BTW, the PONZI scheme admission, something you would expect him to do if he was a solid guy, is a big deal IMO. It is, and he’s the more solid for having voiced it.

Well, it’s a tough nut. But I don’t think I’d push for gifting or employer funding or any mandates whatsoever. Wouldn’t pass constitutional muster. But it’d be really tough to leave seniors stranded at this point. Need to find a way to retrieve what was stolen from the people and return it to them while phasing it out altogether. But none of that will make it through congress.

Cruz had dual citizenship[ but relinquished his Canadian citizenship.

Cruz's mother was married to his father before Ted was born.
