I doubt Congress will support this action. The approval among the voters for taking military action is in the teens or 20s. How many in Congress will support military action with those poll numbers?
Believe me, I know how utterly sad this is. Our Impotus here is going to cause deaths, regime changes, and possibly even terror attacks on our soil with this behavior. Just as Clinton’s actions re Blackhawk down woke up Osama bin Laden to what a paper tiger we were then. Which led to 3000 innocent Americans taking a last breath of fire on 9/11/01.

And exactly what kind of action will Congress approve? A pin prick strike or regime change? When you have a debate, you open all kinds of options.

You could be right. Maybe he’ll try again and this time not give his opponents all the details.
It is a stunning reversal and yes, a humiliating defeat. There’s no way congress is going to put themselves on the hook for an attack against Syria. The voter backlash would be severe.
The rest of the world is also taking note. They are seeing an incompetent and weak president. A blunder of this magnitude only encourages aggressive behavior by our adversaries. Obama struck out big time.

Because yesterday, after Kerry’s speech, Obama spoke about Syria. He sounded like a spokesman from the State Dept.
He needed to sound presidential today and he can’t decide between worse and worser, and he can’t move the 9% poll numbers.
So... he turns Cameron’s humiliation and his own humiliation into a victorious noblesse oblige: Let the people (Congress) decide.
