The Obama administration continues to discount the huge impact its health overhaul law is having in turning America into a part-time nation, calling reports anecdotal and not based on complete data.
To paraphrase Groucho Marx: Who are you going to believe? Me, or your own eyes?
An avalanche of anecdotes continues to pile up as workers across the country are having their hours cut and their health benefits slashed across a broad range of industries.
Loren Goodridge, the owner of 21 Subway franchises, says he has no choice but to cut the hours of his employees to 29 a week to avoid the laws penalties.
The negative effects of the law reach the education industry as well. St. Petersburg College, a public university in Florida, is reducing the hours of 250 faculty members because the college says it cannot afford to provide them with health insurance.
Joseph Hansen, the president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union that originally supported the law, says the health law will have a tremendous impact as workers have their hours reduced and their incomes reduced.
Bureau of Labor Statistics data show that the ratio of part-time to full-time jobs has completely flipped this year from historical trends. Last year, six full-time jobs were created for every one part time job. This year, only one full-time job is being created for every four new part-time jobs....

“If they drove down to the local fast-food district and suddenly noticed half of the operations shut-down, theyd ask questions.”
In my area even the fast-food restaurants have never been so slow in terms of business. The poverty has trickled down where an increasing number of families are dining on ramen noodles; only government workers still enjoy eating out and other vestiges of the “beofre-times”. I know some other people are doing OK, but they don’t/wouldn’t live around me (in what had been a middle-class area).
I work for TGI Fridays, a Carlson Company unit, they still hire full time and provide health insurance. Idk if they got a waiver or not, but all the other chains in the area are part time only. I try n explain that to my employees when they feel like leaving. Most people anymore are forced to work 2 or 3 jobs just to exist. Of course the govt freeloaders don’t have to do anything. It’s difficult out here.
That is exactly the intention - to get you addicted.
Because when enough private insurers are driven from the marketplace, the .gov will declare “OMG! IT’S A CRISIS!” and those teats will now be dispensing socialized medicine... with no alternative private option.
Unless, of course, you’re in the government.
We need a Huge Government Program to encourage Full Time Work, and eliminate Part Time Work.
They should have read it to see what was in it. Except most who were for it before they were against it can’t read.
I really don’t see any of this as a problem. Obama will change it to where employers have to provide insurance for workers who work 1 hour or more per week. Anytime he wants to change the law he simply says “Change it” and it changes. For the king’s word is law.
All he has to do next is get Russia and China to bomb the hell out of us and he’s working on that.
It’s been confirmed that the IRS doesn’t have the authority to fine anyone who doesn’t have insurance. All they can do is keep peoples’ refunds. So, everyone can claim 8 exemptions and make sure they don’t have a refund coming. I did that after my ex claimed the kids when I was supposed to be claiming them. The IRS ruled in her favor so I never got another refund until it was all paid.
I’d say it’s about time for SF to change its football team to the “29ers”
For most of this year, I have been posting about businesses in CaliforniataxyourA$$es off and in particular the whino counties north of gay Frisco, cutting the hours of their businesses because of ObozoliarCare.
Some of the more caring business owners are working with other owners lining up second jobs with them and for their needs.
Two other medical costs increases re higher basic insurance costs per month and very high deductibles are forcing many younger people to negotiate cash visits due to new higher yearly deductibles. Often those deductibles are over $2400 per year.
We need to raise the import tariffs and put American’s back to work.
Obamacare provides an incentive for part-time work. But that only works if there is excess labor. If companies are competing for labor, they’ll hire full time and provide benefits.

Leisure time is up for Americans!
Praise the Obamessiah!
Medicare Supplement takes care of that.
But Medicare is in the toilette too.
Part time gets no vacation.
Lots of people marching around asking for $15/hr and unions.
Caring? More like a conspiracy.

Not in NJ; the closest strike to us is in NYC. NJ has replaced all of the American fast-food workers with Hispanics already; they’re happy to have a job. Last time they had a strike the ones around me didn’t take part, either.
Yep, caring.
They could just cut the hours of their employees and let them find another part time job.
Anyone who thinks that a country or company owes its citizens health care can move to Cuba. Cuba has free health care and school and often no breakfast, lunch or meals.
“If he were intentionally trying to destroy the nation, what would he do differently?”
