Maybe Samantha Powers’ fellow ambassadors to the U.N. came to dislike her so much that they purposely held their crucial meeting when they knew she was too far away to attend.
Her colleagues not only got the chance to discuss the Syrian issue without having to listen to her obstreperous opinions, but they also were able to demonstrate that they no longer consider the U.S. so important that the U.S. ambassador has to be in attendance when the U.N. makes critical decisions.
