The tea party has "one or two more elections cycles" left before it implodes, Texas Democratic Rep. Joaquin Castro said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."
"I think what's most problematic for Republicans, at this point, is that they seem to be taken right now by the tea party's more-extreme base," Castro said, referring to GOP Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky. "I think if they nominate somebody like that, it will be 1964 all over again because that's just not where the majority of Americans are."
The reference is to the landslide victory by Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson over his Republican opponent Barry Goldwater, a strong ideological conservative, in that year's historic presidential race.
"The infighting is getting so severe that I just dont see how you sustain that," Castro said of the conservatives.

Why do they keep asking these democrats about the plight of the republican party?? (of course I know) We don’t need their f’n advice!
Spoken like a true Leninist Marxist in brown no less
.... what about the collapse of Detroit and Chicago...the real pride and joy of the Democratic machine.....
Mr. Castro is projecting again.
Toss Oakland and Baltimore too..
I believe the same was said about Ronald Reagan...the guy who nearly swept the electoral college.
Is that before or after the upcoming bankruptcy of the US?
Joouaqqeeen REALLY wants the GOP to do well, natch.
Here's why:
It’s an amazing bit of marketing that transform a group that favors the constitution and limited government into extremists
when people are getting audited for the unmitigated gall of expecting govt to spend within its means...
it’s not collapse, its a retreat from tyranny
these days i have no desire to get my name on any more lists then i’m already on
Pretty easy to do when you have them locked down with IRS audits, monitor their communications and spy on them.
ROTFLMAO!!!!
(I couldn’t resist)
I’ve heard “the Tea Party is dead” 3,857 times in the last 2 years.
Next.
Don’t worry castro, we will be quietly marching to the polls on election day.

Most Dems I know deeply fear the Tea Party. They really fear its ability to mobilize and inform people and counter liberal propaganda.
Democrats would also fear the Republican Party if it stood for anything.
So is the collapse of the USA, I’m afraid.
