Obama to Sign UN Gun Treaty This Month – Will Lead to National Registry
GatewayPundit ^ | August 12, 2013 | Jim Hoft

Before Stalin could confiscate the guns he needed a national gun registry.

In April the United Nations passed sweeping legislation that will regulate the international arms trade and could lead to a national registry in the United States.

Barack Obama is reportedly going to sign the treaty this month while Congress is on vacation.

In April the United Nations passed sweeping legislation that will regulate the international arms trade and could lead to a national registry in the United States.

Barack Obama is reportedly going to sign the treaty this month while Congress is on vacation.

Ammoland reported:

You heard it straight from the horse’s mouth. Jay Carney said Obama will sign the UN Arms Trade Treaty “before the end of August…We believe it’s in the interest of the United States.”

This is very strategic timing considering Congress is on a 5 week vacation lasting thru the month of August!

These back door tactics are nothing new for the Obama Administration, which is why we are using tactics of our own to stop his anti-gun agenda. We have the home fax numbers of every Senator so while they are absent from the Capitol we can demand they must not ratify the UN Gun Treaty once Obama signs it.

Sounds like a good candidate for the Supreme Court.

Gun Confiscation is a tax. Upheld 5-4. Do we really HAVE to go there??

67 Senators need to sign it. 2/3rds of Senate necessary to ratify foreign treaties. “[The President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur

2/3rds of Zero is what number?

I hope all the gun owners in Indiana, Missouri, Montana and North Dakota who thought it would stylish to elect a Democrat because the GOP candidate said something stupid in the heat of an election campaign are proud of themselves.

And what has the GOP been doing to right wrongs? Hell, they can't even be bothered to make a big stink over Fast & Furious, or Benghazi, or the IRS-targeting, or the NSA-spying… and all of those are pretty unpopular (i.e. they wouldn't be doing anything politically risky.)

No, they are complicit.

It's why I got fed-up and made a satirical brochure:

(from the article):" These back door tactics are nothing new for the Obama Administration,
which is why we are using tactics of our own to stop his anti-gun agenda."

Obviously, Obummer and (UpChuckie) Schumer went to the same Saul Alinsky school so as to accomplish legislation via back door.
This is the issue where you call all your representatives to advise them that to agree with this bill is political suicide
regardless of their party affiliation.
This is just the latest attack on our Constitution , this time comming from the international
Commie/Islamo/Pansey/ effeminate community known as the U.N. : now known as the New World Order.
Now time for Statesmen ,..not Politicians !!

“2/3 of Zero is what number?”

This is what worries me.

Obama and his RAT cohorts know that both the House and Senate are on vacation. Obama brings some of the RAT Senators back to D.C., and 2/3 of them vote to ratify the treaty.

Posters on other threads have said the Constitution calls for two-thirds of the Senators PRESENT to ratify a treaty. If this is true, I wouldn’t put it past these RAT bastards to try and pull a gun-grabbing stunt like this.

“And even then a treaty cannot override the Constitution.”

Half white Hussein has overridden the Constitution over and over and over again. It does not stop him. You are thinking common sense and that is not used anymore.

He doesn't enforce the law when he doesn't want to and changes laws to suit his goals. I almost guarantee when he signs that treaty, he will find a way to go around congress. My guess is he will make “new rules” for the ATF and registration starts.

In the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament, a king is spoken of who will come during the end days and the actions of this king reminds me of Obama’s actions:

“Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”

Obama has spoken out against God's laws, worn out good people as we try to stop his massacre of this country and he is changing laws and I'm not sure what changing times means. He is, at this time, however, changing the times the Obamacare laws will come into effect.

Yes, in my opinion, he will override the Constitution.

it still must be “by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate” in other words, signed while Senate is in session to advise and consent - consent meaning the 2/3s present vote. No Senate, no treaty.

In the Senate, a quorum is a majority of the body, so 51 members may do the business of the Senate.
So, 35 members is 2/3 majority in the Senate with a minimum quorum.

Possibly. In which case it will go to court and then perhaps eventually to decision by war.

But if this is indeed his determination, then any particular treaty or executive decision is not important. If he doesn’t use this one to implement his intention, he’ll use another.

In any case, whether he attempts to (try to) toss the Constitution aside or not, this particular treaty is irrelevant. Either he’s going to ignore the law or not.

YES Senate must ratify and if they do the treaty trumps the CONSTITUTION. Most countries are not held to these Treaties. The USA honors the treaty once ratified. This must not happen.

To paraphrase Andrew Jackson: “Obama has made his decision; now let him enforce it!”

Too bad that phrase was not uttered in support of a more just cause.

Also, it should be pointed out that the parallel would be Obama using the phrase to refer to John Roberts' decision that his program is unconstitutional.

So I don't think it's a particularly good one for conservatives to honor.

“It isn’t law till it is ratified by 2/3 of the Senate.”

1. Ratified by 2/3 present of which only 51 are needed for a quorum, making 37 needed to ratify it.

2. Zero doesn’t think a registration is against the law so he will do it.

President can sign a treaty anytime, but it has no legal standing at all till it is ratified by 2/3 vote of the Senate.

This is also false. International treaties that are inconsistent with U.S. law under the Constitution are void per Reid vs. Covert.

Good luck getting guns registered ‘cause it isn’t going to happen. If odumbo can ignore laws, so can the people.

This must not happen.

What, pray tell, will you do if it does?
Or is this some empty no or-else 'threat' that the Republican party likes to spout?

See my post 29. You are also thinking according to the constitution/law - that doesn’t work anymore. If he writes new rules for the AFT and they start gun registration, who is going to stop him? No one. A gun owner? He loses his job, can’t support his family, if he doesn’t register his guns. There will be consequences a gun owner can’t contend with and will let his guns be registered.

I surely hope I’m wrong.
