Why Chris Christie should stand up to Sarah Palin
The Washington Post's The Fix ^ | August 13, 2013 | Chris Cillizza

Posted on 08/14/2013 2:06:37 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Over the weekend, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is “for big government and trying to go along to get along.” She added that Christie has “got a schtick going there where he’s got a YouTube videographer following him around, kind of these set-up situations sometimes so he can be seen as perhaps a little bit avant-garde and going rogue on things.”

Christie said nothing in return. He should. Here’s why.

Taking on Palin is good politics for Christie or Jeb Bush or anyone else who is planning to run as a quasi-establishment candidate for president in 2016. (No one will run a public-facing “establishment” candidacy but there are clearly people, like Christie or Bush, who would run with the blessing of many of the people who comprise the GOP establishment).

Palin is widely viewed by much of the party — with the exception of her core followers (and she does retain a real following) — as someone who is advocating a direction for the Republican party that could lead to its electoral demise in 2016 and perhaps beyond.

There is a sentiment — largely expressed privately, still, at the moment — that someone needs to stand up to that wing of the party and say “enough is enough.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who faces a conservative primary challenger back home in Kentucky, won’t do it. House Speaker John Boehner, who hopes to unite his conference on debt and spending matters this fall, can’t/won’t do it.

But Christie could — and should. He is cruising to re-election in a blue state. He already has a reputation as a guy who speaks truth to Republican power.....

Yes, please tell us all off, that'll help you garner the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. Good advice, Chris Cillizza, who is, without a doubt, a life-long, dyed-in-the-wool registered Democrat. Hahahahaha! While you're at it, Governor, why not ask Hillary why she's not in the kitchen fixin' you a Dagwood sandwich and ask Susana Martinez when them tamales is gonna be ready to eat?

Cilliza is just another no-nothing, do-nothing yuppy Conn. punk who hasn’t ever had a real job that didn’t require him to transcribe what knocks around in his pea-sized brain.

I’ve got a son a year older than him, so his political wisdom for the Republican Party (speaking from the good-intentioned other side) is about as worthless as Obama is a good President. He has no experience except watching political campaigns. There is some historical value in that, but not if you can’t reason out what the real impacts are from the people who actually decided those contests - the voters. He sees, he says, he writes - all from his own privileged little media world that doesn’t include real people, real places and real thought beyond his own inbred little world.

If Christie or Jeb or whoever it turns out to be doesn’t have Sarah’s endorsement, the gop will get around 40% of the vote. Hillary will win in a landslide. These rinos have been waiting since 1984 for “moderate dems” to come over to our side. They won’t do it unless there’s someone like Reagan. And Christie and Jeb are no Reagan.

Chris Christie needs to sit down and shut up.

Christie has so much self control that he paid to have a lap-band or whatever in order to ease his weight issue. What kind of leader is that?!

Oh dear, I can’t control myself— let me pay BIG dollars to force me to control myself. Silly fool.

Except yourself and defend as you are, or flock off on running for more than you are or than you deserve.

It would be a real hoot if this guy Cilliza wrote some “truth to his facts”.

New Jersey’s version of Fatty Arbuckle knows if he tangles with Palin he’ll come out on the short end very quickly.

This is excellent advice, and I hope Christie will take it. He should announce the truth - that he is a fan of big government as long as those with GOP connections are getting the corrupt contracts that deliver our money to insiders, and that he doesn’t care about the Constitution or about individual freedom. If anyone can win a giveaway bidding war against the liberals, it’s Governor Christie, and he should proudly announce that he intends to continue being himself.

Electoral demise??? WTF do they think has happened with the last two “media approved” milque toast candidates? If you run RAT-lite against RAT, the sheeple will choose to go with the real thing while the base sits home in disgust.

NO MORE EXCREMENT SAMMICHES! And Christie is way too big to choke down.

I think Palin should challenge him to a 10 mile hike with pack and gear.

That’s what we need - more republicans and RINOs fighting with conservatives instead of democrats.

It has worked out so well in the past.

What’s next? A Cristy love-in with Hillary?

Clueless Chris here should ask Rick Santorum how that worked out for him.

These lilly-livered wussy columnists like Cillizza desperately want the GOP-E to somehow shut the TEA Party up, but they can't because the TEA Party is the base, and a very pissed off one at that.

Once again allowing the left wing media to choose our GOP candidates again. Losers to boot.

It’s possible that a Christie denunciation of Palin would mean that the likes of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, both of whom are considering running for president in 2016, jump to defend Palin — sensing a political opportunity. Maybe. But, our sense is that Cruz and Paul — and their political advisers — will likely steer clear from any too-close association with Palin since she has proven herself to be a sort of free radical in the political process.

Oh BTW, Chris...

THE ONLY REASON THAT FAT ASS SHOULD STAND UP TO SARAH IS THAT WE WANT TO SEE A FAT LIBERAL NORTH EAST TURD GET HIS ASS KICKED BY A GIRL. FU CRISPY!

My guess is his Corpulence has not said anything in return because he’s waiting until Obama tells him how to play this.
