Raleigh, N.C. A day after filing a lawsuit against Gov. Pat McCrory for his decision to sign historic elections changes into law, a team of lawyers and state NAACP President William Barber laid out their legal plan Tuesday to fight what they called "regressive, unconstitutional acts to rig and manipulate elections through voter suppression."
The lawsuit alleges that Rosanell Eaton's constitutional right to vote is threatened by House Bill 589, which requires voters to show photo identification when they go to the polls, starting in 2016.
**SNIP**
Eaton, of Louisburg, claims the new elections law will keep her from taking part in early voting and assisting other elderly people in her community from getting to the polls.

Someone on the radio suggested that the 'free' buses used to bring legal and illegal voters to the polls be used to transport these unfortunate souls somewhere to get a photo ID. Problem solved.
Just riling up those Obama base voters in NC prior to the 2014 elections...Georgia went through this and the state persevered against Holder/Obama.
Republicans have really bent over backwards on this one, and Dems are STILL not satisfied. Proving to me, at least, that they have something to hide.
WRAL is very pro Democrat Party. NC should raise revenue on TV commercials, just a surtax of 7 percent would get their attention.
The reason I say this is that the Democrats/WRAL have complained bitterly about the recently passed tax cuts, and begged for tax increases. I for one think we should give them some token tax increases and make them feel better. Targeting the liberal media would work great, send a great message, and raise some much needed revenue!
Ima thinking about getting some people together to sue the NAACP for trying to suppress my vote. My Representative voted for this bill, and represent me.
Since I only vote once, I feel oppressed by the black neighborhoods, where they are paid to vote numerous times,by the Democratic machine.
I am being oppressed and I am offended.
I suppose it’s time to go to black churches and record sermons
“Voter suppression” occurs dead people and illegal immigrants are not allowed to vote, and when live Democrats are not allowed to vote multiple times.
Eaton, of Louisburg, claims the new elections law will keep her from taking part in early voting and assisting other elderly people in her community from getting to the polls.
That's a bald-faced lie.
If this is their best example of making it hard for somebody to vote, give her all the press she wants. She might have to do her voter registration over because the name doesn’t match her birth certificate? When will the racism end?
I’d say that it proves that they’re never satisfied.
I think that is a good idea. Make sure it is a person with black shin, otherwise the change the message.
But it is a great idea.
...and in order to enter the federal court house to argue their case, the lawyers will be required to show their photo ID’s.
A “free” bus ride has value. So...tax them for it.
This is exactly my reason for supporting this law.
Hey, voter fraud is a constitutional right.
So none of the good citizens who tracked this sweet old lady down and put her onstage could be bothered with helping her straighten out her paperwork? If straightening out her name meant she could get an extra $1000 check from the government every month, would she find a way to do it? Does she need multiple identities because she’s collecting benefits in more than one name?
You don't vote if you don't Identify yourself, legally, PERIOD.
