The highly lethal nerve agent VX -- used in weapons of mass destruction -- appears to have been discovered in a mail facility at JFK Airport where two US customs agents were sickened this morning, a law-enforcement source said. Both victims suffered respiratory distress and were taken for emergency treatment after being overcome while inside the US Postal Service facility on North Boundary Road at 9:40 a.m., the source said. Initial testing after the incident revealed the presence of "chemical-grade weapons and nerve gas," and subsequent testing produced a positive reading for VX, the source said.

I don’t believe a word of it. Somebody probably mailed a bottle of Windex and the idiots freaked out.

Criminal minds just has a story about home grown terrorist going to drop anthrax in the subways...put the powder in light bulbs that he could just drop on the ground as he walked....TV writers can give nut cases a lot of ideas...

Chemical Detection paper is pretty ubiquitous. If it was used and tested positive for VX, it was probably VX. Since VX is a liquid, these postal workers probably inhaled a very small dose of fumes. If they had gotten some of the liquid on their skin, they’d be in considerable trouble.

Package from China, being opened by postal inspectors why?
And how long until DHS and the pres try to blame “right wingers” for it?

In one of the morning threads, some posted that on further examination the agents had not been exposed to nerve gas.
Apparently, we need to find a timeline for the incident.

If indeed it were VX, the postal employees would be dead by now. The antidote must be administered (if I remember my CBR training) within 5 minutes. There are a number of common household chemicals that will give a false indication of VX. We would use these to train new troops what to look for, since they wouldn't let us have real VX (party poopers!).
