Shares of embattled retailer J.C. Penney Co. fell another 2.5% in premarket trading on Friday amid an interal battle with shareholders. The board slammed Pershing Square Capital Management's Bill Ackman for a letter in which he criticized the board's failure to find a longer-term solution for the Chief Executive Officer Mike Ulman.

Why anyone would offend a large percentage of the population in order to pander to 1% is beyond me.

You have got to be kidding me! JC Penney is mild compared to this ad. Sears ought to be ashamed. We need to get this out there for people to see what Sears is doing.
Where in the world did you get this? Is it real?

The gay stuff was trivial compared to the business stuff.
The real problem was exterminating a hundred years of experience on how to run a retail business.
More people like whats her name than hate her for being gay.

I doubt that many people "hate" her for "being gay". My guess is that most people simply prefer not to have the issue forced on them when they go shopping.

Let's be honest please. It was far more than their "homosexual ads." JCP had attempted to go "registerless" in hopes of getting everyone on credit cards. The result was NO ONE was available to take actual money, nor could they make change. In addition, they changed major brands and ditched a number of lines that were good sellers.
My wife is an expert on shopping, especially women's stores, and she followed this closely. There were lines---not because of demand, but because no one could take money. Customers were frustrated, the poor staff was just as frustrated. Whatever the ads had to do with it, it was minor compared to the daily business inefficiencies.

That is not true. A minority of a minority is antigay to the point they don’t go to JCP
The reason for the drop in sales was trashing the way the retail business was run
The Gay component of the sales decline was trivial

JC Penneys decline has nothing to do with gaiety. Look at such gay companies as Apple, Google, Levi Strauss, VW, and how successful they are! Apples and oranges, individual products (and google) versus loading up the kids to go buy clothes at a store, it is easy to choose to drop Pennys from your big list of stores.

I generally need facts to back up the things I say. Thankfully, theyre usually available. The sales figures correlate with the Ellen signing and the homosexual ad campaigns. Correlation isn't causation, and the elimination of sales didn't help, but the correlation is pretty close.

A minority of a minority is not "many" as I said in my post. There is simply no way to determine how many people were offended by the addition of a militant lesbian as the new face of JC Penney. My guess is that many were offended, since JCP is not a high-end retailer, but rather depends on rather middle of the road customers.
Those customers tend to be less hip, and more conservative, imho.

There quality started to drop a lot and I had to be a lot more careful of what I purchased there (my daughter still had a closet full of their dresses , jeans and shoes ) The pushing the gay agenda and the in your face adds really turned me off . I stopped shopping there the day the first add came out .
For a store to keep its customers they need to know who there customers are . JC Penny NEVER was the trendy place and all they did was just insult their regular customers . That is what some of these posters are ignoring, businesses can have ups and downs, can make business mistakes, even have near death experiences, but when they go to war against their customer base and turn against their families, then they are cutting their own throat and erasing any hope of survival or recovery from those normal events.

Opps! Last week, I noticed a stain on my shirt, so I ducked into the nearest store where there was parking, you guessed it, Penney’s. Bought a lime green jean jacket for $20. to cover it up, (later wore it for a picnic in the mountains). Hate to tell you guys, but the one in the Tucson Mall was packed with back to school shoppers. Sweet staff. Hope they can re-locate to another job if Penney fails. I still miss Mervyn’s.

It’s a shame. I have shopped at Penney’s for years and still do since they are one of the few places where I can find clothes that fit me. If you’re a tall, slender guy in today’s world sometimes it can he tough to get cloths.
Anyway, in all these years of visiting I never noticed any “gay”, well, anything. I didn’t know anything about it until I read it here. I don’t see a lot of ads, but, I didn’t remember seeing any of those either. I’m not sure what they are. I’m only in them a couple of times a year so that’s not enough to really much I suppose. I hope that they can get it turned around but they probably won’t.
I’ll have fall backs at Sears (until they crater) or Macy’s (despite the Commie star.)

It was failing way before the gay ads started. They thought the gay ads would save it. Lol.

I have to argue with liberals, so, unlike them, I generally need facts to back up the things I say. Why?
A Liberal wouldn't know a fact if it struck him. You need emotional arguments with them.
Unless you want the fact for your own self confidence I think you're wasting your time.

May I suggest to conservative FReepers
Belk as your replacement department store for clothing and housewares. They have not bowed to the Gaystapo yet.
