US State Department creates office ‘to engage with’ world’s religious communities (Kerry)

Secretary of State John Kerry has announced the creation of the Office of Faith-Based Community Initiatives, whose mission, he said, is “to engage more closely with faith communities around the world, with the belief that we need to partner with them to solve global challenges.”

“There is common ground between the Abrahamic faiths, and, in fact, between the Abrahamic faiths and all religions and philosophies, whether you’re talking about Hindu or Confucianism or any other of the many of the world’s different approaches to our existence here on the planet and to our relationship with a supreme being,” said Kerry.

“All of these faiths are virtuous and they are in fact, most of them, tied together by the golden rule, as well as fundamental concerns about the human condition, about poverty, about relationships between people, our responsibilities each to each other,” he continued. “And they all come from the same human heart.”

“Islam has to a large measure been hijacked by people who have no real depth with respect to what the faith in fact preaches, but who interpret it in ways that lead people to conflict and even to violence,” Kerry added.

US State Department embraces religion with new office
GlobalPost Blog
Claire McCartney - August 7, 2013 19:57

"The first of its kind, it will be led by Shaun Casey, a professor at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington and a member of the United Methodist Church. He is also a long-time advisor to Secretary of State John Kerry, who said Casey is “perfect” for the position."

edit

Melissa Rogers, director of the White House Faith-Based Office of Neighborhood Partnerships, said, “The potential for religious communities to spark both positive and negative movement makes it essential for the United States to understand these communities and to engage with them. As the State Department does its work around the world, it must have a firm grasp of these dynamics and it must know how to address them in ways that are informed and intelligent.”

She noted three key objectives of the office: sustainable development, pluralism and advancing human rights, and preventing and mitigating conflicts.

Kerry - Wikipedia

"In an interview with Christianity Today, Kerry said of his faith: "I'm a Catholic and I practice, but at the same time I have an open-mindedness to many other expressions of spirituality that come through different religions. ... I've spent some time reading and thinking about religion and trying to study it, and I've arrived at not so much a sense of the differences, but a sense of the similarities in so many ways." He said that he believed that the Torah, the Qur'an, and the Bible all share a fundamental story which connects with readers.[22]"

Why do I get the feeling that ‘engage’ means blackmail them into accepting sodomy?

How much do we have to pay for this? I thought Dumbama said we had to cut back on everything but his and Chewbacca’s vacations.

Did Skerry really say that. Bet he had his fingers crossed.

Kerry said of his faith: "I'm a Catholic and I practice...

Now I know he's been smoking something.

Kerry is an idiot. Really - a friggen idiot. I can't believe he almost was elected president.

“All of these faiths are virtuous and they are in fact, most of them, tied together by the golden rule,

The Golden Rule is FROM JESUS CHRIST. There is NO Golden Rule in islam

Matthew 7:12: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you

As for islam - it is a "faith" based on cruelty and death to unbelievers.

This is the Golden Rule of islam:

"Believers! - wage war against such of the infidels as are your neighbors, and let them find you rigorous; and know that God is with those who fear him." (Koran 9:124) “Islam has to a large measure been hijacked by people who have no real depth with respect to what the faith in fact preaches, but who interpret it in ways that lead people to conflict and even to violence,” Kerry added.

we need to partner with them to solve global challenges.
*************
By “partner” he means paying out money in exchange for the appearance of cooperation, like we do in the diplomatic realm. We’re always trying to buy cooperation, but all it does is encourage deceit and demands for more in the way of a “partnership”.

IMO this is a setup for something coming up in the near future which by this has to mean the leftist cretins are about to launch an all out attack on Christianity.

Christianity is in all of the basics of the foundation of this Nation. The Leftist goal is to destroy this nation, its wealth, power as our wealth creates our power to keep the World free from the tyranny these cretins wish to bestow upon us. WE as a Nation are in their way, and therefore we must be destroyed for them to succeed with their tyranny.

I see this as a tool for them to use against those of the Christian faith that most certainly would defy them. I can see them in my mind as they cry out “We tried...”, “We attempted to work with the Christians, but.....”, “We created this bureaucracy to give the Christians an opportunity to participate with us.....”.
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH....

What better way for government to blend faiths into secular humanism.

After all Obama said: “I admire the Northern Ireland Executive and the Northern Ireland Assembly all the more for making power-sharing work. That’s not easy to do. It requires compromise, and it requires absorbing some pain from your own side. I applaud them for taking responsibility for law enforcement and for justice, and I commend their effort to “Building a United Community” — important next steps along your transformational journey.

Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity — symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others — these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it. If towns remain divided — if Catholics have their schools and buildings, and Protestants have theirs — if we can’t see ourselves in one another, if fear or resentment are allowed to harden, that encourages division. It discourages cooperation.

Ultimately, peace is just not about politics. It’s about attitudes”

Am I wrong, or is it the Federal Government that keeps telling us we can’t have religion associated with our public schools in any way shape or form?

Whey then is it okay for Kerry to emphasize religion as a fix to the world’s problems, from the Federal Government level?

My opinion, is that they is a quick way to take Christianity down about 15 notches in one fell swoop.

All of a sudden Christianity will be downgraded to also ran status, from being the foremost belief system in the U. S. just a copy of decades ago.

There are no meaningful points of spiritual commonality between Islam, on one hand, and Judaism and Christianity on the other. Each of them is monotheistic? Big deal!

This is the Golden Rule of islam: "Believers!

On the other hand...

But one cannot get around what Jefferson heard when he went with John Adams to wait upon Tripoli’s ambassador to London in March 1785. When they inquired by what right the Barbary states preyed upon American shipping, enslaving both crews and passengers, America’s two foremost envoys were informed that “it was written in the Koran, that all Nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon whoever they could find and to make Slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Mussulman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.”
From John Adams’ official report to Congress.

(It is worth noting that the United States played no part in the Crusades, or in the Catholic reconquista of Andalusia.)
