WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) -- A firearms manufacturer in New York, partially blaming the state's new gun control law, said Wednesday it's moving its corporate offices and its plans for expansion to Pennsylvania. Kahr Firearms Group of Pearl River is the first gunmaker to announce it's leaving because of the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, which was put into law after closed-door negotiations in January. It was the first law in the nation prompted by the killing of 20 first-graders and six educators in Newtown, Conn., in December. "We're looking for a more friendly environment for our business," said Frank Harris, Kahr's vice president for sales and marketing. "Maybe we could have stayed here and built a plant, but the way the bill was passed left us feeling there were a lot of uncertainties going forward."

No problemo.....just more evidence that everything the Brady Campaign says is suspect.
I have NO idea what that's about.
Curious if they gave PA “good” rankings because Ed Rendell was Governor? There must be a political reason that happened, because on most metrics PA is on par with TX, and on some we exceed them when it comes to gun rights.
Texas does not have open carry.
Thanks. I had thought that might have changed in the past year. Perhaps they are talking about it?
They must have a horrific murder rate!!! How many dozens are killed each weekend in that state?!?! /s
Also PA does not fingerprint for CCW permits which has to be one of the few.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I’m not aware of any state except Vermont that makes it easier to concealed carry. Maybe Wyoming or Montana or something up there - - I don’t know.
Your theory about Rendell is good. And remember, too, we had a couple of rat senators, Casey and Specter.

Gun dealer regulations: State license required (2 pts), Record keeping and retention (2 pts), Report records to the state, and state retains records (2 pts), At least 1 store security precaution required (2 pts).
Background checks on all gun sales: Handguns only (10 pts).
Child safety locks: External locks sold with all handguns (3 pts).
No Guns in Workplace (2 pts).
No Guns on College Campuses (2 pts).
No State Preemption (partial, 1 pt).
Add it all up and they're ranked #10, largely because they give such weight to state background checks on handguns.
Incorrect. One needs an FFL Class III. Semi-autos is another story.
Thanks for the research. Some of that stuff has me scratching my head... never heard of most of it. But yeah, the gun shops run a background check for handguns. I thought that was pretty much universal in all states?
All I can say, “It’s about dang time!!!” I love my PM-45, but I refused to buy another Kahr until they moved from NY. Ruger and Colt have expanded (NC and FL).
They do, however, require fingerprinting if you seek a legal name change. You have to go to the State Police, put your prints on an official form, and submit it to the court.
And don't even think about changing your name without court permission.
If you give birth to a child in the hospital, you'll both get fingerprinted.
There are silly laws everywhere, but unless you're in Philly your guns are just like any other power tool. :)
No Guns in Workplace (2 pts).
No Guns on College Campuses (2 pts).
*****
There is no law I am aware of which disallows guns in the workplace or on college campuses.
They have talked about it. Governor Perry says he supports it, but it has not been a high priority.
They would need statewide preemption with it to be very significant, and the big city democrats hate the idea with a passion.
Arizona, Wyoming, and Alaska have joined Vermont where they have “constitutional carry” no permit is required for concealed carry.
Arkansas just passed a law that seems to be constitutional carry, but it is being disputed in the courts.

I have a Kahr K-9 and like it a lot. The trigger is heavy but it is a great shoulder piece. Hoping my wife bonds with it as I carry a few already - cuz I can.
Thanks!
Too bad they recently changed their reciprocity law such that a Kalifornian like myself can't carry on a Florida non-resident carry permit. I won't be visiting Pennsylvania until Kalifornia joins the Union and recognizes the Second Amendment.
Anybody reading this thread know what a Kalifornian would have to do to get a Pennsylvania non-resident permit?
