Green paint was splattered overnight on parts of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., U.S. Park police say.
They say a patrol officer found green plant splashed on the floor near the famous statue of President Lincoln, and some on the base of the statue, at around 1:20 a.m. local time.
The memorial, on the National Mall, will be closed until the U.S. Park Service can clean it up.
An investigation is under way.
CBS Washington affiliate WUSA-TV says its crew members got as close as they could to the statue and didn't see the paint, but saw evidence of...

But why the Lincoln memorial in particular? WTC was a symbol of American commerce and architecture. Considering what the Dreamer crowd is up to after Zimmerman, wouldn’t they be more likely trying to frame racists who hate Lincoln?

Certainly possible. Or just vandals who pick a high profile target to ensure their handiwork makes the news. Certainly the routine muzzie mo is to blow stuff up, not spray paint it. I was just pointing out the coincidence of the vandals’ choice of color as that of islam (as well as the green movement).
