The Obama administration is threatening to veto the 2014 defense authorization bill unless health care insurance premiums and co-pays are increased, Investor's Business Daily said Wednesday. The administration also wants to reduce the proposed 1.8 percent pay increase for military personnel.
According to the Army Times, the administration says the bill is "too generous with military pay" and not generous enough for civilian employees. The administration only wants to give service members a one percent raise.
"A 1.8 percent increase would keep pace [with] the average increase last year in private sector salaries, while the 1 percent raise would create a slight gap," the Army Times said. Obama's proposed increase would be the first raise in over a decade that failed to keep pace with the private sector, IBD said.
The administration has also proposed cost-cutting measures like increased Tricare health fees for military retirees.
Citing the Navy Times, IBD said Obama's proposal includes a freeze for 2014 for Medicare-eligible retirees in the Tricare for Life program.

Sure typical leftist mentality take away from those that earned benefits by fighting for, dying for, standing the watch on foregin shores on many holiday’s away from families , and loved ones, in other words those that gave true sacrifice to the nation, and giving those benefits away for free to degenerates that want to sit on the couch and smoke a bong, talking on their Obama phones, using their SNAP benefits at McDonalds and swiping their EBT cards at 711 to get their 40’s and a pack of smokes, while they wait to get their section 8 housing vouchers filled, and get their free Obamacare....

Well maybe he’s running out of money for vacations and golf outings, or maybe Reggie has gotten more expensive. Whatever, we must all remember that Obama believes that the needs of the ONE(him) outweigh the needs of the many!
A 2 star general with under 2 years service has a base pay of over $118K/year.
That’s quite a bit more than any O-5 or below will ever get no matter how long they serve!

It was Bill Clinton who made ppl medicare eligible to pay into medicare if we wanted to use military facilities..prior to that we did not pay into medicare... if we were medicare eligible we used tri care for life, or paid the fee for tri care. it never end for screwing our military. Except for photo ops

100 million dollars for a junket to Africa would cover more than enough of the military pay raise, and retain the same premiums.

A military that is already on foodstamps and subsidies is being hammered further to effect “change”. Meanwhile billions wasted on the non-working “gimmees” who are sitting on their asses.
