Is It Ignorance or Is It Intent?

Is It Ignorance or Intent That Will Destroy American

I had penned something in a chat room without fully recognizing what I suggested. What I posted was “Americans' ignorance of America's past could destroy America’s freedom.”

What if it is intent and not ignorance causing America’s decline. I have the belief that if more people were aware of how America became an exceptional country they would have a better appreciation of freedom.

America did not become exceptional because of what the government did, America became exceptional because of what the Constitution prohibited the government from doing.

The generations’ immediately following America independence understood independence better than today’s generation. Independence allowed America to establish a Constitution to protect rights from their creator. Americans’ appreciation of freedom has diminished with each new generation.

If a nation is not keenly aware of how it became free, it is doubtful it would know how to keep itself free. The first step is to recognize when the government removes freedoms.

This was the toast that Miss Bishop gave at her retirement in the movie titled “Cheers For Miss Bishop”

“Wisdom is the first cousin to freedom and freedom is the glory of our nation and our people. So here’s to our nation, she’s young, she’s growing to fast, she makes a lot of mistakes but somehow she does manage to keep her people free, may she always.”

Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again. Ronald Reagan

"But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever." --John Adams

"Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it." John Adams

Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost. Thomas Jefferson

"History does not entrust the care of freedom to the weak or timid." Dwight D. Eisenhower

"'Necessity' is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves." -William Pitt, 1783

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." - Benjamin Franklin

"The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime, and the punishment of his guilt." John Philpot Curran (1750-1817), Irish lawyer, politician. "The Right of Election of the Lord Mayor of Dublin," speech, 10 July 1790, Dublin.

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

During 0bama’s first term I gave credence to ignorance. Now the only ignorance was on my part. He and his ilk have progressed with intent to facilitate the decline of America.

Intent on the part of those driving the Big Two Parties. Ignorance on the part of their followers who believe their lies despite ample evidence to the contrary.

It’s willful ignorance because freedom requires people to make the effort to inform themselves and use that information to make good judgments. That requires work and self discipline which people have become averse to.

I believe it was initially intent, but has now snowballed to ignorance. How to stop the snowball - I have an idea or two.

Deliberate, malicious, planned and subtly executed over generations.

Next time please put (vanity) in the keywords or title. Yours I will look for!

The question is not so black and white. The seemingly correct answer is both. Those with the intent, the agenda, have amassed control by bribing and duping the ignorant.

The ignorant are legion and easily led.

There is not a single agenda.

For example there is one faction that saw literally millions of it’s members eradicated in Europe. Their thought of self preservation was “never again” They saw the civil rights movement as a way to gain power, join country clubs and attempt to say never again. Those benefiting the civil rights movement were more than willing to make the political alliance because it offered political power previously non existent. There was an agenda, intent powered by surrogate ignorant masses.

Then came the 60’s and another example. The intent was to be European. No more war. No bothersome morals or ethics. All that comes from religion is to be shunned as shackles preventing the life of freedom. The highest power is sex and the totally freedom of who does what to who when. They have intent. They are currently the rulers. They have captured the cities and then populated them with ignorant mass that can easily be duped and bribed.

They have control of all the levers of power, the government, the Bureaucracy, the law, the various institutions, Audubon society, Sierra club Episcopal and Presbyterian churches and on and on.

The coming death of Obamacare is but the loss of one battle. Until the army, that is the troops of liberal anti American forces are destroyed, literally, in the field and cities where they dwell, there is no America.

Do not forget "sloth". There are too many people who have discarded their self-respect for a free ride. They are willing to accept lifestyle of ease at a survival level, rather than exert their efforts to achieve better.

The Liberals have determined the minimum necessary level of free subsistence, leveraged with a sense of victimhood, entitlement and class warfare required to obtain the ideological surrender of sufficient numbers of voters to obtain control.

In short, voters have surrendered their citizenship and the associated rights in return for a free, subsistence life-style.

Very thought-provoking thread with fascinating responses thus far (other than this one, of course).

I’m thinking it’s more of a pattern as a country evolves. We’ve seen what is happening in America before. In our case, America started very pure - a capitalist purity that was unmatched in the world - through our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Slowly, people started to notice that they could vote themselves benefits and politicians noticed that benefits delivered votes, especially since the benefits were being paid by relatively few to give to millions.

There seems to be no turning back, America as it was is gone and the future doomed with the election and re-election of Obama a huge clue - added to the poll showing of Hillary relating to 2016.
