Allahpundit gave a great recap to one of the stranger political events of all time, the attempt by Anthony Weiner to argue for yet another opportunity for redemption. When he entered the mayoral race, Weiner said that hed learned his lesson after the scandal broke in 2011 and was ready to return, but revelations in the past 24 hours show that he continued his extramarital Internet trolling well after the birth of his child last year. Nevertheless, his wife Huma Abedin stood by his side and declared that she supported Weiner and that the latest reports were old news and an issue between the two of them.
Did New Yorkers agree? Its too early for polling, but one voice was singularly unimpressed with the spectacle. The New York Times editorial board wasted no time yesterday evening in delivering a response get out:

Whoever it is, they clearly want him there because he’d be easy to blackmail into doing their wishes.
This is one sick freak. My guess is that Bubba Clinton is mentoring the Weiener’s. The sad part is that the NY dems don’t really care about moral’s. My guess is that he will be elected.
Weiner refuses to pull out..........
It is ESSENTIAL that Weiner withdraw from this race. No longer does he enjoy the moral authority to tell New Yorkers what size soft drink they can purchase. . . .
Why on earth would Carlos Danger quit? NYC is a city full of degenerates and morons so he fits in perfectly. The only way he won’t get elected is if he starts acting like a conservative.
This is absurd. They need help as a couple. Weiner needs help for his compulsions.
A good question, in terms of public policy, etc. would be : should a man with obvious compulsions and impulse control problems be in public office in the first place?
If Weiner has lost the New York Times, has he lost the “New York version of middle America”????
Hey, at least he has a birth certificate...I think.
Won’t be surprised if he commits suicide by beheading.
Is an of this an issue for Democrats?
Do they subscribe to any code of morality other than their ‘feelings’?
Is this worse than homosexual behaviour?
Transgender behaviour?
Abortion?
The expungment of Christianity from public life?
The appointment of atheist chaplains for the military?
The fawning endorsement of Islamic Sharia?
Al Sharpton or Jeremiah Wright?
Nonsense. This candidate embodies everything that the Times stands for. He is the poster boy for the Times amalgam of honesty, morality, loyalty and integrity.
The dork can leave NY and go to MA.
They also have a solid unchanging reputation for electing mentally and sexually sickos....along with pseudo native Americans (although her IQ is even lower than that of a Kennedy or a Kerry).
i do not see the big deal, as long as he had stopped before he got into the Mayoral race... (as far as his supporters ought to be concerned)... where did it ever say that he had to fully stop when he left the previous office? he should have, yes... but did he say he did/would? i do not see how this is such a big deal with Bill Clinton’s escapades during his presidency and the pass he got—from just about everybody...
Wanna bet the wife said to him what Hillary said to Bill?
“I’ll ‘forgive’ you publicly, but you owe me when you get into office. “
Which head?
My second apostrophe post of the day:
the Weiners, not the Weiner’s.
And morals, not moral’s.
His moral authority extends to hard liquor.
“...Weiner and that the latest reports were old news and an issue between the two of them. ..”
well, Duh!! He isn’t fit to lead.
(and you can “have” him, reflects on you!!!)
