Yet another reason to find the Enzi/Cheney race fascinating. Tough call here for Maverick. Does he strike a blow for incumbency by backing his pal Mike, even though it means siding with wacko bird nemesis, Rand Paul? Or does he strike a blow for interventionism by endorsing the tea-party favorite Cheney? Heres the answer, via the Corner. McCain endorsing anyone named Cheney at this point was a long shot, incumbent opponent or no. Hes been at odds with Dick sporadically for at least 10 years, dating back to the Bush tax cuts, then to the debate over enhanced interrogation, and then to Cheneys criticism of him after leaving office for his VP pick and his bizarre political strategy during the 2008 financial crisis. (Cheney wasnt above publicly knocking McCain in the heat of the 2008 presidential campaign either.) Liz Cheney actually took McCains side last year after her father called Palins VP selection a mistake, a shrewd move for an aspiring Senate candidate planning to run as a tea partier in a red state. That plus super-hawkishness, and still Mavericks unambiguously for Enzi here.
Even so, is she better off having McCain on the other side? Maverick might be seen as a respected elder statesman by Wyoming Republicans who dont follow politics closely even though the national base rants about him daily.

He's just getting us all back for the years he was tortured........
And against an incumbent Democrat, where it can actually do some good.
Quiet a situation. Both Rand Paul and John McCain dislike Dick Cheney and so are backing Enzi.
Youve gotta be sh#ting me......
Do a little homework before you make a remark like that.
I detest McCain as much as anyone but he’s right on this one.
Yo Juan! Have you run this by Chuckie Schumer and Dingy Harry yet? They may be expecting you to vote for the ‘RAT. You might want to check with them before saying stuff like this.
That does it, I endorse Liz Cheney (even though I am not a WY resident), anyone that McCain supports has lost my support!~
That seems to indicate you think he didn't get exactly what he wanted.
I'm not convinced of that.
"You have nothing to fear from an Obama administration?" LOL
There's at least a plausible case to be made that McCain got exactly what he wanted, the footnote of losing against the first Black candidate for the presidency.
Well I had thought Enzi was OK, but with McCain’s endorsement, I gotta be pulling for Cheney.
Nope. But she isn’t a lesbian.
I didnt say she was but she is no conservative
Makes no sense?
Well, I look at your posts 13, 14 and 15, and I find that they are repeats, repeats, repeats.
Read the thread yourself, don’t believe me, I’m just an old bugger.
Lighten up grasshopper! When you post the exact comment thrice, something isn’t on the up and up!
But don’t get upset, everyone on here has made the same mistake NUMEROUS times. It’s just part of growing up!
(PS) If I had a nickle for every time I’ve done that, well.....
Not trying to tell anyone what to do, but I’m going to let this race play out a while before drawing any conclusions.
The water’s too muddy right now.
Lindsey Graham has also come out for Enzi and given him $.
I don’t like incumbents!
Liz Cheney and her husband are Washington insiders/establishment. Same thing, just pulling strings from behind the scenes..
Incumbents vs. Carpetbaggers, some choice.
The kiss of death.
Incumbents vs. Carpetbaggers, some choice.
That’s right.
“...Im down on Liz. Im sick and tired of people who support the Leftist agenda running on our tickets.”
*******************************************************************
It’s obvious from your numerous mindless postings that you know next to nothing about Liz Cheney and, for whatever reason, are incredibly embittered.
From what I’ve seen of Liz Cheney (mostly on her FNC appearances) I like, but I’m not sure of where she stands on a lot of issues...
Found this that I gives a bit of insight.
Don’t know much about Enzi.
Here’s a wyoming tea partiers’ take on her...
After Rubio’s debacle how do we trust anyone?
