Yikes,
Even the Amish fly today. Thinking about becoming a Luddite freeman - fire by rubbing two sticks together.

As an expert, I can verify that it makes it hard to taxi to the gate. Yes. That would require full power...

We always fly Southwest when possible. They had a very good reputation among the military pilots
The assumption was, for various reasons, among them, that SW had many ex military fliers, that if somethingvwent wrong they could handle it better than anyone
Their record stands for itself
I dont think they were yet a corp when Rainman was frantically looking for a safe ride
Looks like the gear failed during taxi
Dunno

Sounds like Ron White’s story about getting a set of tires at a Sear’s Automotive Center put on his van and the technician forgot to put the lug nuts on one of the wheels.

What's next? Max: Car number five, the engine falls out!
Professor Fate: Car number five! Ha ha ha ha!

Yes. That would require full power... I dunno. A redneck with a floor jack and the back of a pickemup truck. Problem solved.

Seems it was okay taxing out and taking off.

I thought they ran off a runway in Chicago a few years ago... no injuries? The power of spin. A boy in a passing car was killed in Chicago. Still no passengers killed. No other airline can match this, not even close.
Yet Southwest never advertises it, because avoidance of a negative is still a negative as far as advertising goes.

they could handle it better than anyone As good as this?
Or this:
UA 232. Crash landed it with NO flight controls after a catostrophic loss of an engine.
35 died due to smoke inhalation
76 died for reasons other than smoke inhalation
47 were seriously injured
125 had minor injuries
13 had no injuries
Seriously, any landing you can walk away from....
