Keith Olbermann, late of current TV, late of MSNBC, late of CNN - well, you get the picture. Keith can't hold a job because he's got a big mouth and no sense. That combination fits perfectly on ESPN.
Olbermann will make his return to television at the network where he first made a name for himself. Paired with Dan Patrick in the 1990's to anchor ESPN's signature broadcast, "Sportscenter," Olbermann's snarky cynicism about professional sports and athletes was a breath of fresh air from the usual fare of hero worship and highlight reels offered by local news outlets.
Olbermann willl host a weeknight show on the sports network beginning in the fall. But Olbermann's return will have one big catch; he won't be able to talk about politics.
TV Newser:
"Former MSNBC and Current TV host Keith Olbermann is returning to the place that made him a household name, ESPN. A source at the channel confirms that Olbermann will host a new late-night talk show on ESPN2, covering sports and pop culture, with the official announcement expected later today."

One down, tens of thousands to go.
Yet Limbaugh is forbidden to even purchase a team with his own money!
Let’s start a pool on exactly when Olbermann will break this pledge and get called on the carpet.
I’ll take a week from Thursday.
any bets on how long before he breaks that clause.....
How about just plain ‘forbidden to talk’ period?.............
Keith will fit right in at ESPN. Sports journalists are at least as liberal as other journalists as a whole. ESPN needs a sports-only version of FOX News as a counterweight.
Forbidden to talk politics?
That’s like getting a crack addict to promise to stop getting high.
So does a car accident.
RE: Thats like getting a crack addict to promise to stop getting high
I remember Rush Limbaugh used to have a gig as a commentator for ESPN for the NFL ( That was 2003 if I remember correctly).
Needless to say, it was a very brief stint.
He resigned a few weeks into the 2003 NFL season after making comments about the press coverage for quarterback Donovan McNabb that caused controversy and accusations of racism on the part of Limbaugh.
His comment about McNabb was: “I don’t think he’s been that good from the get-go. I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.”
A sportswriter construed the comment as racist against himself and other sportswriters.
Another sports analyst wrote Limbaugh’s viewpoint was shared by “many football fans and analysts” and “it is ... absurd to say that the sports media haven’t overrated Donovan McNabb because he’s black.
THAT DID IT FOR RUSH’s SPORTS BROADCASTING CAREER.
I betcha Olbermann will court the same type of controversy INDIRECTLY even if he does not talk about politics outright.
That’s the only kind of broadcasting he was good at.
Isn’t he abusive towards his staff?? Why would any station want such a HR nightmare??
Abusive to his staff, always complaining and constantly telling his bosses to f*** off.
In short, he is the WORST EMPLOYEE in the WORLD!
:: Olbermann will host a new late-night talk show on ESPN2, covering sports and ^^pop culture^^ ::
And he can’t talk politics? He’s being set-up to fail.
Maybe they’ll put him back on Monday Night Football as part of the NFL’s “Jump the Shark” trajectory.
Can’t talk about politics, huh? I think a lot of people will watch just to see if the moron can pull it off. Once a big mouth liberal, always a big mouth liberal.
You're right. I'm the exception in my group.
Between ESPN’s “Obama-love” and now this, they’re becoming extremely liberal for a sports’ network. I hope the new Fox Sports’ station offers some balance.
That's not a popular viewpoint here on FR but I agree with you. He was a pretty good sportscaster once upon a time.
