NOCACA I think it was on the OFST
Some complain of the verdict in the Zimmerman trial, demand that Zimmerman be punished, and chant “NO Justus - No Peace”
Justice has been done, but more justice is needed.
In this county and culture, Criminal Justice requires due process, not a lynching.
Due Process is “that process that is due”
In most states, the evidence of major crimes, such as murder/manslaughter are presented to a grand jury.
The citizen grand jury, guided by the prosecutor, decides whether or not to charge (indict) the defendant and the appropriate charges. The grand jury can also decide that a crime was not committed or that this defendant did not commit the crime under investigation and issue a “no bill”
The case against Zimmerman was never presented to a grand jury. The local prosecutor was satisfied that Zimmerman did not commit a crime. That is part of what led to the initial public dissatisfaction with the handling of the case.
Once the family and their advisors mounted a successful public relations campaign, the Florida Governor yielded to public pressure, and appointed a special prosecutor. A special prosecutor should examine the evidence and how the investigation was handled and determine if the local police and prosecutor handled the case correctly (i.e., make sure the locals were not just taking care of one of their friends). If warranted, in most states, the special prosecutor would present the facts to a grand jury.
The special prosecutor in this matter did not present the case to grand jury but, as allowed by Florida law, issued an “information” which commenced the criminal case against Zimmerman.
That failure to present the case to a grand jury led to the deprivation of civil rights of George Zimmerman, and this travesty that we witnessed.
If the matter had been presented to a grand jury, and the grand jury issued a no bill, the BGI would have demonstrated for a review of the matter by the US Department of Justice, claiming that Martin's civil rights (to live) had been violated. Unless the system has been totally corrupted, that investigation would disclose the evidence that was not presented in this trial and Zimmerman should have been exonerated. Zimmerman's civil rights have been violated.
If we still have a justice system, Zimmerman should commence suits for the violations of his civil rights against the special prosecutor and the prosecutors; against the “scheme team” (the parents, their attorneys and advisors - including the BGI - Sheraton, Jackson et al.) and agains the media that knowingly and maliciously misrepresented facts and defamed Zimmerman in their reports.
My own feeling is this. I have followed the trial closely...each day. The Jury clearly looked at the evidence, which was overwhelming for the defense and Zimmerman.
Zimmerman's nose was broken and his face was bruised and bloodied after the confrontation. He had cuts and bruises on the back of his head. He had grass stains on the back of his shirt and pants. Treyvon had no injuries from the fight, except the gunshot wound. There were scrapes on his knuckles. And he had grass stains on his knees. All of this was supported by the forensic evidence and was not challenged.
It is clear who was delivering a beating, and who was receiving it. An eye witness indicated Treyvon was on top of Zimmerman and hitting him. Clearly, the one who was screaming histerically, and terrified for help, was the one being beaten, not the one on top doing the beating.
In almost all cases, the prosecution witnesses, under cross examination, gave testimony that ended up supporting Zimmerman's story.
It is tragic that things happened like they did. But neither person had broken any laws, or committed any crime, and could have walked away from this up until the time one of them decided to sucker punch the other in the face, break his nose and knock him down. Even then Treyvon could have walked away and had very little long term personal consequence. But when he began beating Zimmerman on the ground as he did, he took a path that led to his death. Zimmerman finally shot, and the forensic evidence showed that Treyvon was shot at close range, with the bullet traveling upward through his body (and his heart) while Zimmerman was on the ground.
There simply was not evidence of any hate crimes. There was simply no evidence of murder or negligence. The jury decided that Zimmerman was defending himself.
We know now that Zimmerman, an Hispanic male, mentored young black kids in his spare time. No racist there at all.
No, it is tragic that a 17 year old young man was killed. He was not a "little" kid. He was 6' 2" tall, 170 lbs, and was quite muscular and fit as a high school football player. Zimmerman was 5'9", also weighed around 170 lbs, but was not in good shape and over weight. And Treyvon was not angelic...far from it. His facebook page and tweets make that clear enough, as does his own record...all of which the jury could not hear...and in the end, did not need to.
Would Zimmerman have died that night? We will never know. But he clearly thought he was in great danger, and he was definitely being beat up. So he finally pulled his gun and shot in self defense.
I pray the country can move on from this. This case was trumped up by politicians, the Media, and those seeking a racial cause. The local police had already pretty much determined what this jury found and that is why Zimmerman was released after being taken to the police station that night. These types of things happen fairly often in this nation of 350 million.
For example, shortly before this event, a black man, who was being stalked by 4-5 white thugs, was at home one night when these thugs came to his house and began calling him names, and throwing rocks at his home from his drive way. He was safe in his home. It was secure and he was armed. He did not have to go out. But they were on his property and he decided to go out and confront them. There was an argument. One of the young men, about 19 years old, charged the man yelling that he was going to hurt him. The man shot...and the 19 year old died.
That man was not tried. He was not arrested for murder or manslaughter. Everyone knew these kids were on his property and up to no good. He could have stayed inside, but he decided to confront the evil on his property and when attacked, he defended himself. I have no problem with it...and believe more Americans should send such messages to criminals when they are threatened. 911 takes on average 9 minutes for anyone to get there. Usually by that time, it is over.
That above case happened in Florida by the way...and there was no outcry, no demands to punish that man for killing the much younger man. It was clearly self defense...as was this case with Zimmerman.

The threat of riots are starting. Though if it was going to happen, I would have expected it by now...
...imho, the threat of blatant, all out rioting a la Rodney King is something even these thugs can perceive to be of limited effect...people are ready and waiting for them...
...what I would expect to see is an extended period of black on white violence; muggings, sexual attacks, assaults; in many cities and seemingly unrelated entirely to this case...a much more achievable tactic, an oblique, rather than a direct, revenge for Travon, and thus much less liable to show on any law enforcement radar...
...that I put forth such a cynical pronouncement of our society shows my radically dimmed hopes for racial harmony in this country, at least on any meaningful scale...it appears that many in the black community are altogether too prone to groupthink and propaganda to allow for any other scenario to come about...
Candy didn’t put anyone on who backed Zimmerman. Guess her ‘open mindedness and tolerance’ are limited to only her type. She’s a hater... it’s just that her victim is PC acceptable in this time.
“Only if those who said an all woman jury would never deliver a Not Guilty verdict eat the crow first!”
Every adult female relative, we have from my wife down to nieces would have voted not guilty.
The same goes for the female friends we have. They saw this as a racist travesty pushed by Sharpton, the Outhouse, Holder and his black racists in the AG office and the M$M mediots.
Females on criminal juries tend to vote to acquit. The idea is they tend to feel sorry for the accused perpetrator, though nobody except the individual jurors know for sure.
We're not hearing much from all the men (and women) who made negative comments about emotional and intellectually inferior women and their inability to make a rational decision.
How about some apologies from you folks?
I never said anything like that, but on behalf of my dim-witted brethren, I do apologize.
Sure you all know this already:

Read the background on Corey and Peel: comments.

...sigh...you’ve heard several responses from me on this matter, and if you need another, here it is...
...I made no comment about female intellect, so I can’t respond to that; what I did pontificate upon was the conflict resolution avoidance that women, by their less aggressive natures, tend to adopt...avoidance of conflict yields an attitude of compromise and conciliation, which in this case might translate into an empathic desire to satisfy each party, at least to the degree possible(think ‘manslaughter’...)however, as we know, such a conciliation was in fact impossible...
...if you disagree with this, then tell me why the prosecution made such naked and blatant emotional appeals, referring incessantly to Trayvon as a child, and tugging at traditional maternal heartstrings, in order to try and sway the case...which was so obvious that even the obtuse punditry on TV remarked on it often...
...Bernie and his bunch knew what their best shot was with this particular jury, and they took it...
Mrs p6 just told me her cell battery was low last night so she had it on charge in the bedroom. When she was shopping she didn’t have it with her and that’s why everything went to voice mail.
Tin Foil Hat off, LOL!
Any comments I made were based on what I was hearing from female “friends.”
I thank God for answering our prayers and giving GZ his freedom!
but on behalf of my dim-witted brethren, I do apologize....
...commentary that I might have made on this subject was based on observable and distinctive tendencies in women vs men, and given the input of the manslaughter instruction (and apparently they did sniff that bait, if only to determine it unpalatable)it was reasonable to evince concern over the possibility of a hung jury or worse...
...if that is your definition of ‘dim-witted’, then, well, whatever gets you through the day...
ok
never understood this but when I see white people standing there being guilty on who they are it really does my head in.
AMEN !! I say that prayer every night before I go to sleep. If ever we needed the heavenly host it’s now.
Can you clarify what BGI stands for?
