If there was one scandal I thought might actually stick on Barack Obama, it was his widespread use of the Internal Revenue Service to target his political enemies.
I should have known better.
I witnessed a scandal of this magnitude forgotten about by the media, by Congress and by other investigators after initial outrage was expressed. And that’s exactly what appears to be happening this time around.
To review what happened this year, with this administration, the IRS initially admitted holding up tax-exempt letters for tea-party organizations. For days, and even weeks, it was a steady drip, drip, drip with new admissions, new revelations, officials pleading the Fifth Amendment, resignations, etc.
The scandal grew beyond the tea-party movement to other conservative groups and individuals. There were audits. There was harassment. There was stalling. There were excuses.
House Republicans promised they would not let go of this scandal.
But then they did.
No more coverage in the daily news cycle. No more hearings. A few members of Congress vowed to use the scandal to end the IRS. But the momentum was gone. Once again, Obama was allowed to regain his political balance to reset the nation’s talking points to subjects he was more comfortable with.
I don’t know how I got fooled again.
I had seen this movie before – when I was an active participant in blowing the scandal wide open.
That was back when Bill Clinton was in the White House. He, too, was caught red-handed using the IRS to go after his political enemies. Anyone and everyone who opposed Clinton politically, anyone and everyone who defied him or got in his way, anyone and everyone who asked tough questions were hounded by the IRS.

Concerning the action, or more appropriately, inaction, of the Republicans on all of the scandals and improprieties swirling around the Obama Admininstration, one is left with two possible conclusions: 1) they remain afraid of being called racists by the MSM; or, 2) they agree with what Obama is doing, but can’t come out and say so.
Someone said long before the 2008 election that Obama could commit a major felony on national TV and he would be praised and the crime completely ignored.
The U.S. voters made a rookie mistake in 2008...never hire someone you can’t fire.
There’s a third, more ominous possibility: the Obmamaites have embarrassing NSA information about them and are blackmailing them. Maxine Waters told us this might happen (a broken clock is right twice a day.)
They don’t have the requisite equipment (spine, testicles) to do anything like that to the Dems.
Tea Partiers, on the other hand . . .

Be prepared to be relentless. That’s what you will have to do to get through to them.”

EVERY American will be better off with the FairTax, except those self-aggrandizing folks in Washington, DC who play and profit handsomely playing the “rent-seeking” game.
Even laid-off IRS employees and CPAs who depend on the IRC will be better off — they can go find honest work!
They’ll be happier, make more money and will be able to hold their heads up in public!

We can do this!
We can replace the income tax with the FairTax and we can abolish the IRS!
Why won’t our inillustrious, so-called “conservative” House assure that we never have to deal with the IRS again? Article I section 8 gives them that authority.
Because they are not incompetent, but collaborators; this is the only conclusion that makes sense of the entire lack-of-vigor in pursuing wrongdoing (see Fast & Furious, Benghazi, questionable presidential eligibility, and so on).
Scandals don’t affect politicians. It’s the press coverage of the scandal the affects politicians. The IRS scandal never made the front page, therefore it was a non-story. The quality of a democratic republic will never exceed the quality of the press.
“What can you do?..”
We can also write a letter to the editor. Can you imagine if half the FReepers across the country did that? We could reach a lot of folks.
That is right.
Lets beat the FairTax drum!
How many people actually read Letters to the Editor?
I haven’t seen one in years.
There is only one way out of this.
And it’s not to be discussed in polite company.
I read letters to editors more often that I read the “news” from the “journalists.”
My elderly aunt doesn’t listen to talk radio, nor does she have a computer, but she ALWAYS reads those letters to editors.
They ARE read by many folks, and have an impact.
Claire Wolfe in “101 Things To Do Until The Revolution” that Letters to the Editor were much more effective than letters to Congress; with the decline of the newspaper industry I wouldn’t have thought there were that many people actually reading Letters to Editors.

A letter to the editor of your local paper will be seen, and there are plenty of outstanding letters one could use to make our FairTax case.

Once I wrote an email to my rep., who was more afraid of Pelosi than his constituents, and since I knew he would ignore me (and others), I copied and pasted my email to him and sent it to the editor, telling editor this is what I wrote my congressman.
And they printed it. I figure maybe they won’t ignore us so much if we make our gripes to them public.
