Bummer,Hail Marys
Randy Travis is a talented man who has been battling personal demons for several years. I’m praying for him.
Dang! Too bad...
Prayers up. I saw him in the 1980s, opening for George Jones. This is too much.
There, but for the $millions and talent, go I.
What a terrible thing. God bless him.
God bless him. I will be praying for him.
My prayers go out to him. I read this thing can take as long as 10 years to beat and it’s what killed singer Andy Gibb, viral infection of the heart.
Anyway, I'm surprised to hear he is only 54. I figured he'd be older than that by now. Way to young to be having these sort of problems. Especially when you have country singers who still have careers in their 70s, like Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels and that one guy with the funny hat.
Well I hope Randy Travis gets better and puts out another album or two.
Listen to the song and say a prayer for the singer!
They state Travis’ cardiomyopathy is from a viral infection, which by itself can lead to heart failure. There is also a kind of cardiomyopathy caused by alcoholism-— he definitely is an alcoholic. The two together really damage heart muscle and the result is poor circulation, poor kidney clearance of toxins and fluids, buildup of fluid in the lungs and low blood oxygen. Drowning in his own fluids, and can’t get a breath. Pray for him.
Forever and Ever, Amen ....

Poor guy is a mess.
Hope he hits his bottom before its too late. Hope he pulls through this.
I remember the first time I heard Randy, I thought I was listening to Merle Haggard, and it took me a while after that to recognize that he wasn’t merely imitating Haggard.
His run was too short.
Hang in there, Randy.
On the other Hand
Great song. I wore out a cassette of his album Storms of Life back in the 80’s in my 1978 Ford Pickup. When I wrecked that truck in 86 it was probably in the cassette deck.
This same thing happened to me on Christmas Day, 2007. I'd noticed shortness of breath in the month leading up to that, but I thought I had bronchitis or something. I walked into the Emergency Room, and when they hooked me up to the EKG, my heart was pumping at about 20% of capacity. My Doctor wondered how I was able to walk into the Emergency Room!
I was in the hospital for 5 days. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that I have Atrial Fibrillation anyway, but that didn't cause this episode. My doc said it was a virus that attacked my heart, and that she'd had a patient during the previous summer that had experienced the same thing.
“The six-time Grammy winner is suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy”
no, i bet it isn’t. it’s alcohol induced cardiomyopathy —
“Travis pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in January following his arrest last year when he was found naked after crashing his Pontiac Trans Am.”
“In August 2012, he was cited after a dustup at a church in the parking lot of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
In November, Travis said through his attorney that he had put together a personal program to get sober.”
I suspect this will turn out to be alcoholic cardiomyopathy rather than viral cardiomyopathy. I hope he beats this thing and gets some help dealing with his demons.
