Former President George W. Bush wants Republicans to consider immigration on its own merits, not just as a party saving piece of legislation, he said during an interview on ABC's This Week. "Sometimes, it takes time for some of these complex issues to evolve. And it looks like immigration, you know, has a chance to pass," Bush said.

When you re-register Independent you cut off your nose to spite your face because it increases the clout of liberals in the Republican primaries
LOL. You are cutting off something else voting for beltway GOP pigs like Rubio and Ryan who stab us in the back.
“GIVE IT A CHANCE” Kind of like injecting HIV and then just wait to see what happens.... Politicians really are stupid at least they have got that Bi-Partisan part right.
Kalifornistan has open primaries so I can vote for whomever I want w/o spiting my or anyone else's face. I also have the added advantage of not having either party barrage me with their junk mail seeking contributions supporting their liberal candidates and causes.
I've often wondered the same. George W. Bush and Richard Nixon were the two most liberal Republicans of the 20th century, yet they were the ones most hated by liberals, and often misguidedly loved by conservatives.
I suppose the answer is that image and rhetoric trump policy. Both Bush and Nixon talked tough and sounded patriotic, which for both their enemies and their supporters was more important than the socially and economically liberal policies that they actually signed into law (or tried to).
Shut up, George, you sanctimonious compassionate conservative.
Well, in most states once still has to be a registered Republican to vote in primaries. CA, GA, SC, among the exceptions
One wants to go into Republican primaries to nominate decent candidate; the trouble is the other primary voters are dead set on voting for liberals with name ID, like Jebbie et al.
Exactly! Why should the American taxpayers pay for that removal of pressure that would have been brought to the Mexican government to improve the situation?
Not me. It's not a license to invade. that said, I'm glad we do have an immigration process because this nation has become what it has because of legal immigration.
Dear Mr Bush, How about giving Americans a chance for once instead of pandering for power and selling out our heritage to the lowest bidder like all you damn politicians do
Speech-disability poster boy Georgie Jr. needs to go back to painting puppies or whatever it is he does these days. His attempted open-border amnesty betrayal of our homeland failed during his failed presidency when patriots in Congress killed it. Hopefully his left wing dream will die again.
Party-saving? THEY’RE GONNA VOTE RAT.
"Those people are here illegally.
They're ignorant and uneducated and they DESERVE to be taken advantage of"

Crawford’s village idiot never met a foreign national whose self interest he wouldn’t put ahead of Americans.
FUGWB
BTW, Jorge, thanks for all the graffiti and gangs that you allowed to swamp my town while you were in office.
You left office but they are still here.
And he’s willing to do to the rest of America what he did to California.
