Has the moment for immigration reform passed?
There's a school of thought growing within the GOP that argues the party doesn't need to win over Latino voters as badly as it needs to expand its popularity among white voters.

Major Republican donors remain adamant in their desire to see Congress pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill. They see the demographic reality that the national electorate is becoming less white, and they're firm in the belief that the GOP needs to connect with a more diverse universe of voters.
Groups funded by such donors are preparing a concerted effort to persuade influential House Republicans to get on board with immigration reform. And they're also working to ensure Republicans who already support it get adequate political cover. Groups like the American Action Network, backed by GOP impresario Fred Malek, and Americans for a Conservative Direction are spending serious cash on TV ads defending Marco Rubio for his work on the Senate immigration bill.

The GOP is actually being racist when it assumes that hispanics want to be cheap labor and the recipients of freebies. It would do better appealing to those who want to move up in a US that's better than Mexico. JMHO

While they are so FOCUSED on the Latino vote, they are totally ignoring and insulting their base.
Their FOCUS on Latinos means they are taking the votes of the rest of Americans for granted.
If the GOP would grow a pair, disgruntled conservatives would stop staying home, and more than make up for the loss of the Latino vote.
Don’t believe it? Just look at what Rubio has done to his chances of EVER running for president.
The Latinos should do it the right way, wait their turn, become naturalized citizens, then the GOP would be serving American citizens, and not foreign invaders.

yes. Anything otherwise would be racist. We didn’t give up on them. THEY, the latinos, gave up on the GOP. It’s not complicated really. They want freebies and the easy way to get citizenship, turning our country into the same sh*thole banana republic they went away from.
For sake of argument, let’s say the Republicans pass amnesty and earn the hearts and minds of Hispanics by doing so. Let’s say we throw the borders open wide and let anyone who wants come into the country. Let’s make Hispanics comfortable by supporting the socialistic, paternalistic, and statist forms of leadership in South America and Mexico.
Yeah. Let’s embrace the Sodomites while we’re at it. Let’s pass plural marriage as well. The Hispanics will love us forever! While we’re at it, let’s hand out government largesse, paying people to vote for us. That way we’ll win elections, and Republicans will be in power forever.

One can only hope. The GOP really needs to put down the meth pipe if they think that giving amnesty to millions upon millions of semi-literate laborers will win them new voters. These people will NEVER vote for a Republican. NEVER, EVER! Rubio, McCain, and the rest are simply minting new Democrat voters and ensuring a permanent Democrat majority.
Conservatives: Man your stations. NO on amnesty.

I will add, who does the GOPe think it is to assign a latino to the fields to vegetable pick like the democrats sent the blacks to the cotton fields?
Perhaps there's a latino that may wish to be a doctor, a pilot or an office worker. Are they not the right color to do anything besides pick lettuce? And THEY are calling US "racists". It's not possible to be pro-Mexican while encouraging the population to leave their own home rather than stay and fight for change not only for themselves but for those who decided to stay where they were born.
I wouldn’t say give up on Latinos.
Or any other democrat manufactured Special Victim Group.
Just stop kissing their tails.
And stop letting demopcrats define the playing field and assigning the roles for different groups of people.
Just treat every citizen equally, as Americans.
Republicans will never win by trying to compete with democrats by promising more special treatment and more handouts.
Lationos need to take courses in American History and Economics in order to change their idiotic voting habits. That ain’t gonna happen.
