Reuters: 'Terrible Optics' for Obama to Go Golfing and Kerry Yachting During Egypt Coup Daniel Halper July 7, 2013 12:03 PM
Reuters columnist David Rohde said this morning on CBS that it was "terrible optics" for President Obama to go golfing and Secretary of State John Kerry to go yachting as the Egyptian leader was overthrown:
Thank John W. I hope so too...
Well said! And I like your meme, too.
The optics were so bad that CBS radio reported earlier that Obama and Kerry would both be spending the day in the White House Security Room. It wasn’t until later in the day that the report changed.
VJ didn’t want them underfoot.
The children are always worried about what things look like rather than what they really are (”optics”). Have an argument with a child and they’ll make all of the excuses in the world about this, that, and the other, and why things are the way they are.
When the adult is in charge, the sleeves get rolled up and the job gets done. There are no excuses about how bad things were before they took charge. They make it happen.
This analogy is the difference between a liberal and a conservative, respectively.
Excellent, excellent point.
Terrible optics - yes.
Unexpected from this bunch - no. Unfortunately.
But Obama Team released a photo of O with his advisers, so all is well.
Especially since they supported the guy who was tossed out!
“Take the name for an object you might see on the landscape, in 5 letters... If you remove one letter & rearrange the remaining four, the result is a synonym of the first word. (HINT: The two terms are also synonymous in naming a particular, despicable individual who can be blamed for ALL of the problems encountered by the pres_ent O-ministration.”
What are these words?
“Terrrible optics”
Translation: “He didn’t even bother to pose for our cameras and say “Yada, yada, yada, me, me, me!”
Blackdog, you took the oral right out of my mouth! :-D
Of course it is far more insidious than that.
On the contrary, it takes incredible grit, determination, presence of mind, and, indeed mental strength going well beyond heroic, to keep one’s golf game together in the face of a deteriorating Middle East, knowing that its fate rests solely upon one’s own shoulders. Any lesser man would buckle under the pressure.
I’m OK with that.
Actually, the optics are a minor issue compared to the stench.
Cant they at least fiddle or something as Egypt is burning?
I’ll confess to commenting without looking at the video.
We know that Obama and crew are lazy morons, who can’t pass up an opportunity to recreate, if possible at huge public expense. But observers in other countries might not believe this. Through the lens of “normal” imperial behavior, our “leaders” conspicuous absense probably looks like a false display of being uninvolved; i.e., evidence of the opposite.
