After a one-day break for the Fourth of July holiday, the mothers of George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin both testified that the screaming heard in the background of a 911 call was their respective son.
The state rested its case against Zimmerman on Friday after testimony earlier in the day from Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton. The defense, meanwhile, started its case by calling Zimmerman's mother, Gladys Zimmerman.
Gladys Zimmerman listened to the 911 call and defense attorney Mark O'Mara questioned her about the voice in the background.
"That's my son, George," she said.
O'Mara then asked how she knew whose voice it was on the call.
"Because he's my son," she replied.
Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda asked Gladys Zimmerman if she heard her son screaming before.
"Not for help," she said, but added that she is "sure that is George's voice."(continued)

I haven’t read anything about Zimmerman’s uncle’s testimony. It must not fit the narrative.

Good article, which these days seems to hold true more for the conservative base than for those purporting to represent that base. I know this much, I can never be tricked by any so-called “compassionate conservative” or these recent “Republicans” who never met a liberal cause they couldn’t warm up to, or at least refuse to really oppose.
Concealed carry will be dead. Why carry a gun if you have no right to use it if you’re life is in jeopardy? Basically better off rolling the dice that the cops MIGHT show up.

Most times a lawyer counsels a defendant not to testify. That goes double here where the police interviews and reenactment have already been played for the six woman jury.
Even though I know this happens..it makes me not want to serve on a jury again. (not that it was my cup of tea to begin with)
Their testimonies will cancel each other out ...
More telling is Trayvon’s brother changing his testimony from his original statements to police [couldn’t say that it was Trayvon’s voice - now he can].

“I wasn’t even there and I’m willing to swear that the screaming voice is Zimmerman’s ... I would be just as credible as Mama Trayvon ... after all, what is she going to say ... no, I think that is Zimmerman’s voice?”
I’m hoping mom brings both mothers back and asks them how long they were both raised in their mothers house to actually be able to recognize the voice. Georges mom had him the whole time. Trayvon was passed around a lot.
...why are Martin’s parents allowed to be in the courtroom but (I am told) not the Zimmerman’s? I had heard it was because Zimmerman’s would testify...but Martin’s testified. So that is not the reason.
Might be part of closing statements - you heard two mothers describing the voice as their son's voice - one of these women raised her son and had long-term and regular contact with him; the other woman turned her son over to someone else to raise and hasn't seen her son but for 3 months of the last 6 years...
I was wondering, in Florida thefamilies of the victum are permitted to sit in the court room, however witness cannot if they maybe called to testify.
Note, that, Tracy Martin, the father of Trayvon, has yet been called.
He was not called by the Prosecution...Why?
Because in his first interview with police, when he heard the same 911 tape with the yelling, he told police “that was not my son” on the tape. Tracy would later change his story when the $$$ lawyers and media came around

He was lucky the cop didn’t arrest him for having the camera. That seems to be the trend now.

That is the logical conclusion that reveals how stupid this charge and trial is.
You are jumped by an unknown assailant who is on top of you beating you. You can’t use deadly force to prevent grave and serious injury?
The entire crux of the State’s case hinges on proving/knowing BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT that Zimmerman had malice and ill-will before the confrontation. There is NO WAY ON EARTH that the prosecution has proved that.
But, if the jury feels the racial pressure to convict, a HORRIBLE precedent will be set.
FWIW, I believe any guilty verdict will be overturned on appeal. The judge has been horrible and committed several instances of reversible error.
