At age 80, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, leader of the Supreme Court's liberal wing, says she is in excellent health, even lifting weights despite having cracked a pair of ribs again, and plans to stay several more years on the bench.
In a Reuters interview late on Tuesday, she vowed to resist any pressure to retire that might come from liberals who want to ensure that Democratic President Barack Obama can pick her successor before the November 2016 presidential election.

You go girl! Stay put.
I would rather have her on the bench at 80 then one of Odumbo’s liberal POSs on the bench in their 40s.
If she retires in 2016, then Obama would not pick her successor.
If she retired in 2016, say that summer, then Obama would still be president. He’s president until Jan. 20, 2017. Whether the Senate approves a very liberal justice is another matter. It could be a huge confirmation battle, but he would still be the man to pick Supreme Court justices at that time.
Why, what’s the difference between liberal POSs of whatever age?
Right. Hildebeast would.
Good - wait for a REAL American POTUS, THEN retire...
What if, the day before inauguration, he nominated himself for the Supreme Court?
It is a tradition that all federal judicial vacancies in an presidential election are held off until after the election.
This tradition was backed-up by a GOP blue note last year.
Stay put YOU LOOK TERRIFIC!!!! YOU HAVE THE INFECTIOUS SMILE OF A SCHOOLGIRL !!!!
Agreed. I would rather have an 80 something Ruth on the bench, than a young liberal appointee.
As far as judges go, the 2016 election is critical. If a Democrat wins that election, then Ginsburg, Breyer, Scalia, Kennedy, at the least, will retire within the term of that president. Their replacements will all be very liberal.
Why is it that we can’t always depend on Republican presidents to appoint solid conservatives though? If you look at John Paul Stevens in his later years, or Anthony Kennedy today, it’s hard to believe that Republicans appointed them.
On the other hand, if a RINO is elected president in 2016, then he will probably appoint more moderate types of judges, who will be liberal on many cases that come before the court.
Would Barack Obama have that much hubris, to nominate himself for the Supreme Court?????
Can you confirm what I just wrote, I believe I have it right?
Because the end of her lifetime appointment is statistically nearer than someone who is in their 40s.
Hopefully that tradition holds through the 2016 election year. I pray for the continued good health and service of all of the members of this court. I really hope that Obama does NOT get to make any more nominations to the Supreme Court.
She looks younger than Hilary AND SanFranNan.
Let them remove her when the smell of putrefaction becomes intolerable.
