A proposed peace conference on Syria will likely not happen until at least September, Secretary of State John F. Kerry said Tuesday after meeting here with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Kerry spoke privately with Lavrov for nearly two hours outside an Asian security meeting that both diplomats are attending. He said in a statement that he concluded from the conversation that both the United States and Russia are serious, more than serious, [and] committed to ending the bloody civil conflict in Syria and working toward a negotiated peace.

Meanwhile, Obama keeps giving support to the Al Qaeda loving "rebels"......we are in a kakistocracy.
I don’t think there’ll be anyone left by then, Lurch.
What an idiot! Russia shuts down for the summer and everyone goes on holiday. No business (or school) until September.
It is a pity, and it saddens me so to see other powers, like Russia and China (and even destitute N. Korea and Iran) lead this President and his merry band of incompetents around in circles when they don't have a clue.
The Russkies keep moving the cheese and Obama is bewildered by each move, scratching his head all the while saying things like, “I mean it”!
Carter was very very bad for the US and the West. This administration is perhaps the worst in history. We will all pay a price for this fuddled and juvenile period, 2008-2016.
Historians will be puzzled, how an informed and somewhat advanced nation state like the USA put this ignorant and inexperienced man at the helm of a once great nation. It really does remind one of Nero in Rome.
There will be no peace talks. Nobody wants peace.
The issue will be victory talks. How will the victors reshape Baathist Syria? That is the issue for consideration
Kerry is finding out like Obama that it’s a little tougher to be a leader than to sit back and vote present or criticize from the hill.
A Leftist wakes up in the morning. It’s already ‘Fail’.
Sequestration strikes again.
That is perhaps the worst use of the word perhaps I have ever seen. :^)
so we fund them while they cut off Christians heads, .
Yet again another cluster F### of a foreign policy from these idiots.
I;’d love for one of the DU trolls on here to explain to us how Obama is good and still getting support.
Foreign policy has been a disaster.
World leaders now think we’re a joke, they might not like Bush but they respected him.
Then the Govt is spying on us.
Economy is the worst recovery in history .
Food stamps, welfare, foreclosures up.
Disability up and much fraud and abuse.
blacks now are worse off.
obamacare and the health care is a disaster even admitted by Dems now.\Cuts to the military but he takes a 100 million vacation and then gets rebuffed on his homosexual agenda
Infact all he has done is placate homosexuals.
That is it, the man is a joke and how anyone could defend this man is beyond me and so instead of the usual far extreme left wing fanatics who will defend him then why and how could you?
All they ever can do is to attack the right, call names, attack Bush.
I said this in 2008, but history will look at him and the election and come up with tat idea that the Obama voters will go down as the dumbest voters in history.
The so called Christian was actually an enemy, a pro Assad agitator
the fact these animals are chopping off head and cheering about it tells me all I need to know about them
Kerry will always be a dingleberry.
Not quite gettiong to the plop.
Russia and the United State are committed to Peace.
Russia wants it one way and the United States another.
That is not going to have a good ending, and Kerry cannot figure that out.
And by the end of 2014 you won't be able to find a single person, with the exception of the most brain-dead Marxist-loving nimrods and MSM propogandists, that will admit they voted for the POS,
:^)
Just giving you a hard time.
- Russia in Syria
- Iran with their bomb program and the attempted revolt a few years ago.
- North Korea with their expanding Nuclear arsenal and aggressive posture to the south.
- China building a robust Navy and Space program ready to swamp any US naval fleet.
- Al-Qaeda about to retake Afghanistan and Iraq.
- Pakistan out of control.
- Europe angry at the spy scandals whilst sipping coffee.
- US unilateral disarmament and Obama’s future plans to show more “flexibility” to Putin awhile back is destroying US power and credibility.
The nasty list goes on and on..
The Russians told the US a long time ago to stay out of Syria as it was the Russkies ballpark - US leaders bit their lips and pretended to be outraged along with the UN.
I think, just today, the US condemned the Hezbollah presence inside of Syria, so friggin’ what? Who cares? Is a US threat worth anything these days?
The tide may be changing for Assad thanks to very real and committed allies he has that are backing him to the hilt.
The West hims and haws and is, as usual, undecided. Meanwhile, the Axis of Evil” is out there blasting away and making progress.
Nobody is saying that the so-called “Rebels” are any better than Assad but what US interests are in Syria seemed to be pretty clear: oust Assad and Hezbollah (Iran).
The hesitant US policy of (from that old song) “...you put your right hand in, you put your right hand out, you put your right hand in and you shake it all about” is destroying US deterrent policy and hope for some form of stability on the planet.
The ONLY country that has been consistent and following through on what they deem as their national security is tiny little Israel who have already attacked Syrian convoys shipping advanced systems to the Hezbollah.
Israel is the ONLY candle of Hope right now in the West because NOBODY respects or can rely on the current US administration - it is like those Hollywood death wish films where we kill off Manhattan 10 times over and see our icons like the Statue of Liberty destroyed by Godzilla, meteorites, the cold, the sand, tornadoes or aliens.
Does the Obama era represent a Western “Death Wish”?
It is simply pathetic and frightening...
