Trayvon Martins Stepmother Speaks Out: I Dont Think Zimmerman Picked Him Out Because He Was Black
Alicia Stanley, Trayvon Martins stepmother, sat down last night for an emotional interview with Anderson Cooper. Stanley opened up about the 14 years she spent raising Martin with his father and how its been hard for her to watch George Zimmermans trial and hear all the things people have been saying about the night that her son died. She told Cooper that while she is convinced of Zimmermans guilt, she does not personally believe that he picked her son out because he was black.
SNIP
She became emotional again when talking about losing a child she raised for most of his life, and described how painful it was to not be able to sit in the front row at Martins funeral. She told Cooper that it would be heartbreaking and unbelievable if Zimmerman is found not guilty.

>described how painful it was to not be able to sit in the front row at Martins funeral
wtf? I can think of several more painful things about this incident than where one sits at a funeral. Her intelligent remark about the lack of profiling makes this comment even more bizarre.
Stepmother?? I knew his parents were divorced, but I didn’t know about any stepmother. Especially since this all took place at father’s girlfriend s house.
What a family. No wonder....
The thing I don’t understand is, and I got really sick of hearing Sean Hannity say Martin was walking close to house to get out of the rain...how do you know that, Sean?...if I see someone walking right next to my house, raining or not, black, white, yellow or red, the police are getting called and the gun is going in the hand until they get here.
If you are next to my house and I do not know who you are, there is going to be a serious problem. If you are not invited onto my property, then do not come.
It blows my mind the amount of people who just completely ignore the fact of self-defense. I just can’t wrap my mind around it...Smashed in nose, head smashed - - He should have just sat back and accepted it. I mean what kind of logic are they using here?
Get ready to rumblllllllllllllllllllllllllle.
For the mother, it’s the time honored tradition of “My boy is an angel, and he couldn’t have done what they say he did.”
For the others it’s a mixture of feeling bad someone was killed, they can’t understand why lethal force was justified, and overt racism.
Bad time to be experiencing an ammunition drought.
Step mother raised him for Fourteen years. Where is she sitting in court?
Exactly. But it didn’t help Bernard Goetz, either.
As I understand it they were having a rash of robberies in the area. It is also my understanding that the suspects were black. IMHO if you were a Neighborhood Watch Captain it would be prudent to keep an extra eye out on young black people in your area.
Just posted this on another Zimmerman thread. I think it applies here, too:
My take is the media mob WANTS rioting and general craziness if Zimmerman is found not guilty. That boosts ratings and sells papers. So even though anyone paying attention knows the prosecution has been an absolute disaster, they tell the low-information viewer that, "Boy, that prosecution is doing an INCREDIBLY GREAT job! Zimmerman's going to be convicted for sure!" Thus, if Zimmerman is acquitted, the low-information viewer goes apoplectic: "This was a slam-dunk for the prosecution! The fix is in! Where's my baseball bat???"
The James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies has sort of become a primer for today's "journalism." Why wait around for things to happen when you can make them happen yourself?
My immediate area probably isn’t a problematic one. If I had to, I could discourage adventurism.
One of these days business owners and their friends are going to get sick and tired of being destroyed, and some areas are going to start looking like Lebanon or Kosovo did for periods in the past.
Certain loud-mouthed groups are in for a rude awakening, if that happens.
Someone like this waits all this time to get on national tv, it has to be orchestrated. the bit about not being profiled comes across like a last minute change of plan after M’s creepy ass cracker remark came out during trial testimony and effectively made any claim of profiling by Z a wash. In particular it seems like a last minute play for the sympathies of the all female jury.
>> My immediate area probably isnt a problematic one.
Mine neither. And I’m prepared (and stocked) to handle whatever feral beasts should wander onto my property in a troublemaking mood.
I’d sure like to be able to practice some silhouette-target shooting though... can’t justify it.
From the start, this trial was all about STARTING a war.
It has, and never did, have anything to do with justice.
Keep you butt down, and your head up.
;-\
I donttThink Zimmerman Picked Him Because He Was Black
I don’t think George Zimmerman “PICKED” anyone, I think Trayvon thought he wouild teach the “little guy” a lession and chose poorly......his culture got him killed and that “star witness” was an example of his circle of friends......
I really feel badly for her. She was more of a mother to Trayvon than Sybrina was and yet she has been cast aside by them all.
And yet she still can’t see the forest through the trees — and wants Zimmerman found guilty.
