So much for the denials. An administration that throughout its 2012 election campaign denied it was waging a War on Coal has now come out and publicly declared its intention to shut down coal-fired power plants putting hundreds of thousands of Americans out of work and sending electricity prices skyrocketing.
This is not what the American people voted for.
Responding to a White House petition to end the War on Coal, the administration said: The President has made clear that he understands that coal has played a critical role in our countrys energy portfolio for decades and will continue to be an important source of energy in the future.
Sycophantic liberal media outlets (like The Nation and the Associated Press) went further, repeatedly claiming that the War on Coal was a myth. The Obama campaign even ran a TV ad in Ohio claiming that Mitt Romney would be bad for coal and trotted out former Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland to deny there was a war on coal and echo the attacks on Romney.

Those would be the producers. Who are the consumers? States that have a large number of coal fired power plants?, etc.?
I think it was in an election campaign interview in 2008 he said something to the effect.......I will make it too expensive for them (coal companies) the stay in business.
True. However the Obama worshiping MSM refused to report the truth.
Obama has declared war on America. When will America declare war on Obama?
South Park “Smug Alert” seems relevant here.

I continually find myself falling back on reliance upon the Divine Providence who from the beginning was behind the formation and preservation of the miracle of America. He is the only one who saved us in the past and He’s the only one that can save us now. We’ve always been in the hands of a merciful and gracious God, many of us just didn’t know it. It’s pretty obvious now.
The five largest coal consumers are in order: Texas (Red/Red), Indiana(Blue/Red), Pennsylvania (B/B), Ohio(B/B) and Illinois(B/B). Use is much closer than production; Illinois uses slightly more than half as much coal as Texas. Details Here.
The seven largest coal consumers (Per capita) are in order: North Dakota(R/R), Wyoming(R/R) (By a huge margin) then Indiana(B/R), Kentucky(R/R), New Mexico(B/B), Alabama(R/R), and Iowa (B/B). Details Here.
All very interesting. It would appear that coal producers for the most part recognized 0bama as the enemy. Coal consumers (who may not even realize they're coal consumers) had a poorer record of recognizing their enemy.
Coal will win in the end. It’s been around for thousands of years and will be around for many more. Long after Mr. Obama has faded to dust.
See post #11, the only “fair” thing to do.
Diamonds Are Forever
Amen to that.
Obama is fighting a losing battle in every arena. Each and every issue of his has been tried and found wanting in the past...and doomed to fail again in the future if he actually gets a chance to implement any of them.
I shouldn’t but I’m laughing really hard at all of this.
People were warned. Now reap.
...this guy is at war with everyone except the people trying to kill us....
Exactly. They will start to recognize it when the electricity goes out.
Oddly enough, the coal producers may not be as much affected. We are #7 worldwide in coal exports. There's probably room for us to rise in that standing.
Every, every, every case where the libs claim someone else is doing something bad or wrong it is actually THEM that are doing it.
He’s for the little guy.
If Congress had any balls, they’d simply revoke the authority of the EPA to regulate CO2. Oh, wait ...
