The agents we already have are blocked from doing their jobs now. Why will 20,000 new agents help?

A band aid on a gaping wound. These agents will be unionized and will cost oodles of money in salary, benefits and retirement. The Obama/Holder Justice Dept will not allow our law enforcement agencies to do their job now.........why would more agents help our situation???
To: originalbuckeye
They need all those new agents to replace the ones they put in jail for doing their job. Insanity at its finest.

Helps the unemployment stats.
As does the number people having to take two part time jobs because their fulltime job hours were cut by companies looking for ways to avoid paying for Obamacare.

What makes anybody think we would hire any of these agents or build the fence, or institute E-Verify or install high tech monitors? Just because there is a law that requires these things, doesn’t mean “squat” if it isn’t going to be enforced. We are not enforcing the border security laws passed years ago, so why would we think new ones will be enforced. I think some of our legislators are very naive.

It’s just a means to get senate votes. Imagine there’s another sequester, guess what will be the first think that Janet Napolitano will say can’t be done because of budget cuts. She’s aleady said as much. She won’t eliminate worthless bureaucrats in some building somewhere, she’ll eliminate border patrol agents. And this while she says out of the other side of her mouth, that the border is more secure than it’s ever been.

They’ll be stationed at the border, passing out maps, water bottles, EBT cards, and contact informaton for various DNC “outreach” programs.

Maybe the guards can set up a long row of manned desks along the border and trip a few of the millions of illegals streaming in to get in on the amnesty deal. Sitting and watching is about all they’ll be allowed to do.

They could be utilized like the 6,000 National Guards under Bush 2 — paperwork, washing vehicles, filing.
Recall that the 6,000 figure was deceptive. They were on rotation of about 1,500 at a time — for 2 week periods. IIRC, they were not even allowed to carry weapons or have live ammo.

Exactly. It is a way to get more unionized people who support Dem causes and know who “butters their toast.” They will not stop anyone because they will end up in the prisons (unions), arrested by cops (unions), work in low-paying jobs (SEIU), go to public schools (unionized teachers) or become wards of the state (Democrat voters, unionized government worker programs).
It’s about votes and make-work jobs.

I have posted similar in numerous related threads: 5 minutes after this bill is signed into law, all those undesirable provisions, amendments, sections, will be tossed in the trash. They have not intention of fulfilling them.
Heck, I can recall the late Tony Snow as press secretary proclaiming vehemently that the fence had been built -- except for a small portion. [That small portion ended up being a couple thousand miles.]
I recall Janet Napolitano stating that the border is the most secure that it had ever been.
This new immigration bill is the same ole shuffle, same ole shell game, same ole song and dance. It grants amnesty (legalization or whatever they are calling it this go-round) and gives illegals massive benefits.

Why will 20,000 new agents help? They will help provide cover to the RINOs that vote for Amnesty. Of course none of the border security provisions will actually be enacted but you can sure as Hell bet that the Amnesty will be enforced - with a vengeance.
To: originalbuckeye
Course it won’t help. I guess ODimwit will get to say, “See? I created jobs!”
