President Barack Obama’s unprecedented initiative, known as the Insider Threat Program, is sweeping in its reach. It has received scant public attention even though it extends beyond the U.S. national security bureaucracies to most federal departments and agencies nationwide, including the Peace Corps, the Social Security Administration and the Education and Agriculture departments. It emphasizes leaks of classified material, but catchall definitions of “insider threat” give agencies latitude to pursue and penalize a range of other conduct.
Government documents reviewed by McClatchy illustrate how some agencies are using that latitude to pursue unauthorized disclosures of any information, not just classified material. They also show how millions of federal employees and contractors must watch for “high-risk persons or behaviors” among co-workers and could face penalties, including criminal charges, for failing to report them. Leaks to the media are equated with espionage.
“Hammer this fact home . . . leaking is tantamount to aiding the enemies of the United States,” says a June 1, 2012, Defense Department strategy for the program that was obtained by McClatchy.

Obama to talk to sham privacy board about NSA snooping

The Hill has the background on the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB), a group that was created 8 years ago and just last month sawit’s 5th and final member confirmed.
Does this sound like a sham to you?
The panel was first suggested in the 2004 report by the 9/11 Commission, and was first launched that year. In 2007, the group was granted independent powers, but both Presidents George W. Bush and Obama resisted nominating members for years.
The panel operated without offices or staff for years, and the fifth and final member — Chairman David Medine — was only confirmed last month, by a narrow 53-45 party line vote.
The board still lacks a website, and until Medine’s appointment, had only two federal staffers pulled from other government agencies. It had held only two meetings before a briefing earlier this week, the first since the top-secret NSA programs were revealed by 29-year old defense contractor Edward Snowden.
Still, the White House believes that meeting with the panel can help assuage privacy concerns voiced since the revelation of the NSA programs. The senior administration official said the board’s functions included “ensuring that the need for such actions is balanced with the need to protect privacy and civil liberties.”
In an interview with the Associated Press, Medine said senior officials at the NSA, FBI, and Justice Department explained how some of the NSA programs functioned in a meeting with the five panelists Wednesday.
“Based on what we’ve learned so far, further questions are warranted,” he told the wire service.
Medine also said the group plans a public meeting on July 9, and will publish a report that includes analysis of and recommendations for the NSA programs. By law, the board is required to report to Congress not less than semiannually.

I will not be going to any camp. I have read enough about Soviet gulags and German concentration camps to know that death is preferably.
I can’t speak for anyone else but I don’t doubt this kind of thing has always gone on. What’s changed is that we are learning about it all at once and getting a clearer picture of the damage and ugliness.
For a long time I was fixated on terrorism - 9/11 changed me utterly. But the more I’ve discovered since then the less trust I’ve had in the ability of my government to protect me from “enemies, both foreign and domestic”.
I don’t care so much which party is responsible- I care that NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO STOP IT.

So I can be clear maggief. I have NO problem with people illegally in this nation being profiled. I have NO problem with moslems being profiled. I DO have a problem when legal born citizens not illegally born here and who are not moslems are being profiled. Since my government profiles little old ladies, Veterans, our Military but will give moslems and illegals a pass, there is a problem of enormous proportions. DOES my government belong to a foreign group or foreign groups of people that are not professing nor want to be Americans instead those people want to kill Americans, I Still Have The Right To Call and to Protest the Actions of these people claiming to represent me when representing me is the farthermost thing from their hearts and minds. Interesting, though, that this particular memo was written on June 1, 2012. That was when some of us were realizing that the HI state registrar had just confirmed to AZ SOS Ken Bennett that Obama’s HI BC is non-valid. And particularly interesting because it appears that the HDOH created a new BC for Obama so he could have the BC# that was on the forged COLB that he had put online - using as a legal basis a request by law enforcement (Janet Napolitano or Eric HOlder?) who said it was necessary in order to protect Obama’s life. Which makes it a “national security” secret.
This applies to federal agencies, but if there is a Certificate of Naturalization for Obama, for instance, that would further corroborate what the HI registrar disclosed, that could be known by workers within a federal agency.

Doctors and social workers are feeling obligated to report to “the authorities” anyone that has any negative feelings about anything, I suppose out of fear of being held responsible for not saying anythng.
If you read/listen to the ubiquitous news reports in “1984” (including the movie), the *proles* are constantly cited as the reason for many edicts. Triumphant proclamations of their increasingly improved status and conditions abound.
Just like today with *the children*, *single mothers*, *minorities*, *illegals* et al being used to justify everything being done to the rest of us.
The real story of “1984” is the story of the Inner and Outer Party. Inner Party members have the privilege of turning off the constant barrage of propaganda and the attendant spy cameras, for example, besides having access to some *luxuries*.
All Party members were constantly snooping & reporting on each other and no one could trust anyone, even their lover. The proles are useful, so they are allowed every vice. The more proles, the more justification for hardship. The more hardship, the more people will do anything for a crumb of favor.
Basically, everyone not in the Inner Party or a prole was a member of the Outer Party or an outlaw/enemy.
Just like today.

Thanks for the link, (I think) infuriating stuff. What I’m reading is if anyone is going through any life experience they need “social help”. Then of course the social workers will feel they need to report them to the authorities.
