In a defeat for Republican leadership, the House on Thursday rejected a sweeping farm bill, amid opposition from both sides of the aisle.
More than 60 House Republicans defected and voted against the half-trillion-dollar bill, which sets funding for farm subsidies and other assistance as well as food stamps.
The vote was 234-195 against the bill.
Apparently a lot of Dems didn’t like the cuts to food stamp program, and authorization for states to impose work requirements for food stamps
When the left CULTIVATES more Democrat voters with free giveaways, it IS a ‘FARM’ Bill. LOL
bump!
You hit the nail on the head.
Democrats and about 60 Republicans killed it. So the bill that died wasn't spending enoufh to satisfy them. Killing it wasn't necessarily a good thing.
Nice play on words!
VERY true!!!!!
It's my understanding that the House will vote on another bill Thurs. cutting even more.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this mean that the House and Senate bills will be reconciled which means Dems will get less than if they had voted for this Senate bill today?
I thought this might happen last night when I saw some lefties on MSNBC bawling that Pubs wanted to starve po’ black chillins.
During when Republicans had a majority in the House 1994 -2006 : Republicans defeated Bush’s Amnesty, Hillary’s Hillarycare, Gun control , carbon taxes, all this and more during when Republicans had the Congress. democrats were for all of this and more ,for Amnesty, for gun control , for global warming, for communism, for hillary care/obamacare.
I think a House bill to be voted on later in the week may cut even more.
Right . . . I just checked it out . . . also Dems didn’t like the work requirement option the bill allowed the states to impose. It will be interesting to see what happens next, and whether Republicans will cave in allowing the Dems to hold out for more $$$
I think that is correct.
Next time you eat some yellow dent corn let us know.
If they do then it'll get voted down then as well. People voted against it because it didn't spend enough not that it spent too much.

They have to pass a bill in the House to have something to reconcile first.
couldn’t put it together huh, cantor and boehner?
some rural dems feeling the heat? it’ll be interesting to look at the vote.
Actually it cut food stamps significantly which is why the Dems voted against. Interesting day when the left and the tea party agree on something. This bill was an abomination.
Very good points.
Hadn’t thought of all that.
Actually, I think we may see the GOP pass a bill later this week cutting even more.
This will force the Senate to the table to accept less than they wanted.
Obama said he wouldn’t sign it because they cut the food stamp program
Ohhhh I guess that’s true since it has to originate in the House.
