I’m pleasantly surprised.

Democrats and about 60 Republicans killed it. So the bill that died wasn't spending enoufh to satisfy them. Killing it wasn't necessarily a good thing.

I think the 60 GOP votes might have voted against because it didn't cut enough.

I think a House bill to be voted on later in the week may cut even more.

Right . . . I just checked it out . . . also Dems didn’t like the work requirement option the bill allowed the states to impose. It will be interesting to see what happens next, and whether Republicans will cave in allowing the Dems to hold out for more $$$

The Democrats wanted to spend even more—but that doesn’t mean killing the bill wasn’t a good thing.
