Now is our chance to change the political field of battle; the recent revelations regarding the IRS's political targeting and the NSA's domestic spying have engendered a healthy distrust of the now feral Federal Government. - We have the opportunity not only to stop this thing dead in its tracks, but make support for it legally actionable at the federal and State level.
Here's how:
This is important because the Constitution clearly defines Treason as follows: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort — and Treason is one of the things that the privilege from arrest given congressmen in Art I, Sec 6 does not cover.
Indeed, after declaring such a state of invasion the Constitution requires the federal government to provide help to the states in Art 4, Sec 4, and to withhold help would be treason. Furthermore, a Supreme Court ruling stating the actions of the Governors actions as legitimate would be, again, treason.
Now is the time to make the Federal Government choke on its own actions. Let us force them into a political no-win scenario while they think they have us between a wall and a sword. |

Thank you for the update!
Thanks OneWingedShark.
The Governor's Office has received your letter of request for assistance with a federal issue. After careful consideration, we regret to inform you the Governor's Office does not have jurisdiction over these matters as it is an issue addressed by the Federal Government.
Thank you for sending your thoughts. I appreciate you taking your time to share your views, and I will certainly keep them in mind as I continue to work hard on behalf of all Montanans.
I find it intriguing* how the CO letter says that the matter was a federal matter when what I sent was very, very careful to frame it in terms of the State. (*Intriguing in that morbid way like how Congress does this by passing off responsibility for unpopular policies to the Executive, the Judicial, or other entities like the Federal Reserve.)
I dunno about TX, but Brewer in AZ would never go for it. She’s not a conservative.
No kidding?
That'd be rather blunt instead of the usual politician-speak littered with weasel-words and non-statements.
Thanks for the update!
I know one of you at least has already done this but if you go via Google's search engine to keep-the-republic.blogspot.com you will find descriptions of such measures. If the measures set out there were pushed by a handful of legislators in a few states I believe that there would be a rising tide of public support.
Linked.
we all need to act.
We need to take action. We can make a difference.
Another approach would be to restrict law enforcement activity to crimes committed against US citizens or legal immigrants or legal visitors to the US.
Perhaps there should not be legal investigation of crimes committed by legal residents or visitors of the US if the victim was illegal. Certainly when illegals commit crimes they can dash back across the border to evade prosecution, then reenter illegally with a different false identity.
People who obey the law should not be at a disadvantage compared to people who disobey the law.
Good point.
I love Greg Abbott, but he's ducking the whole subject of illegal immigration. Last I checked, there's nothing on his campaign website about it, which is a very bad sign.
